Cbr1000 2015 model. I'm getting a few mm of play on where my gear lever attaches at the top (gear shaft), I race my bike and had a scary moment at the weekend when my bike wouldn't downshift!

When I pull it out the few mm from the shaft it seems to work fine, but if I push it back in it doesn't want to seem to downshift, I'm worried this could be serious! I'm racing in less than a fortnight again and a bit cautious that if I leave it pulled out the couple of mm, if it went back in on its own then I can't downshift and that could be very bad.

Any advice help would be appreciated guys.

At the weekend I thought it was my gear lever that was loose but it's actually moving a few mm from the shaft.

So now it seems to be working fine again, I'm now thinking that the part that goes onto the shaft is the problem, it seems to be tight but I'm still getting a bit of movement on it. I'm going to try putting a nut and bolt through it and tighten it that way as I'm striping the head of the original bolt which is an allan key!

    What rearsets are you using?

That spline attachment looks like the older bonamici one.

Yeah it's that spline attachment, it's pretty shit to be honest. It's a small allan key that tightens it and it's no good as I just stripped the head, got a bolt the same size and gave it a good tighten and also put a nylon nut on the other side so it won't budge and it's all good... panic over!

That link you sent is properly a good shout tho, as the one I have doesn't seem as good.

    Thanks!

Yeah I had a similar designed one with an old set of bonamici rearsets and never used it as it didn't feel right.

    Glad to hear it's sorted.
