You can check MOT History here :- https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ Check the MOT history of a vehicle Registration number: RJ61XCZ Vehicle make HONDA Vehicle model CBR1000RR Date first used 18 January 2012 Fuel type Petrol Colour Black MOT history of this vehicle Test date 17 May 2016 Expiry date 16 May 2017 Test Result Pass Odometer reading 5,979 miles MOT test number 1470 3452 4480 Advisory notice item(s) front Brake pad(s) close to minimum limit (3.2.A1f(i)) rear Brake pad(s) close to minimum limit (3.2.A1f(i)) Drive chain worn but not considered excessive (6.2.1e) Test date 19 March 2015 Expiry date 18 March 2016 Test Result Pass Odometer reading 5,266 miles MOT test number 7188 9847 5034
Thank Ian The mileage seems dubious as I can't believe that chain would be worn and the rear pads close to minimum at 6,000miles!!
Agree - that seems unlikely unless the rider is using the rear brake as a footrest! Have a similar mileage 2015 and rears still have 70% left.
Is it an ABS? From experience ABS models are heavier on the rear brakes. A lot of the R prefix bikes were first registered by Honda UK. Possibly ex Ron Haslam? (not that it matters).
I bought my 09 last year, one owner bike with 3k miles on. Chain was shot and sprocket wasn't great, mainly down to o/ring splits. On nearly 7k miles now, MOT last week and existing pads discs are spot on.
Sold my race bike recently.... Done 10k on the road and two seasons and still had oem pads in the rear ha ha.... But as said, if abs doesn't it do it auto I.e duel breaking??
Thanks for the responses. Yes the bike is an ex Honda Ron Haslam bike which was sold to the second owner with around 300miles when it was 12 months old. The second owner has used it in winter and was caked with salt which caused the corrosion and premature ageing of the bike!! Still no explanation regarding the premature west of the rear brake pads!! Air filter was removed and looked very clean, in line with the 6,000miles on the clocks
Ron Haslem school may have disconnected the clocks, they put race fairings on, then put back to road later,,maybe done another 5000 before.
