Ladies/Gents Little advice please, for the mechanically and technically inept ! I recently had a HRC quick action throttle fitted along with a new set of rear brake pads, three times now since having this done the bike has had a serious "spasm" for want of a better word Occasionally when whacking the throttle open and making progress up through the gears, the rev limiter kicks in which obviously slows the bike, the white lights come on, the speedo jumps around all over the place and the engine revs rise My initial thoughts the first time it happened was just a bad gear change, however twice now its done it when in sixth and the revs ascending , it only lasts for 1- 2 seconds before it sorts itself out , but it's just not right and I need to find a solution to it Thoughts and solutions if possible, please bare in mind the statement in bold above when replying thank you
What you're describing sounds like wheelspin. Too much torque thru the back wheel caused by (as you put it) whacking the throttle open, and the rear tyre losing grip for several seconds. Solutions are to get your suspension setup properly, invest in new tyres which grip better for conditions you are riding in,and the most important one is not to be a ham fisted whacker on the throttle now you have a quick action one
Ha ! hadn't thought of that, new set of tyres being fitted on Friday as it happens, but would it wheelspin mid rev range in sixth gear ? the suspension has been set up by JHS racing for "sportive" road riding at my weight about a year ago, need recalibrating ? they are having the bike in soon to fit my HM PLUS SS quickshifter
What tyres you using? Blade makes a fair bit of torque and depending on road surface it's possible. Take it your chain and sprockets are all in good condition?
Dunlop sport smart 2s but they are 4000 miles old and being replaced on friday, original chain and sprockets 8500 miles old
