Folks I am aware of the forum etiquette. We do not talk about Brexit, the poison of Political correctness brainwashing or political allegiance (which let’s face it we are in a very bad place leadership wise regardless of who you vote for). But I have one question why do we now call both Males and Females in the role an ‘actor’ (actress has been dropped). Be we still call a male Lion a Lion and the female a Lioness?
Glad to help out on this topical conundrum! Patently clear from a non-drinker's perspective. An 'actor or actress' is an occupation. All occupation descriptives have suffered the hands of Germaine Greer's bra-burning brigade of the late sixties/early seventies, and other feminist radicals. There are, of course, many such gender-neutral occupational descriptive now: Chairman/woman = Chair or Chairperson; Fireman = Fire Officer; manageress, just like actress, became simply 'manager'. The lion and lioness though, is a genus and is untouched (rightfully so) by gender manipulators. Fortunately for the animal kingdom, they do not have to now accept that there are more genuses than just male and female, for who has ever heard of a bi-lion, gender fluid giraffe, or gay friggin' elephant? Anyway, gotta go now. The pizza deliveress is here!!
I voted to remain. It seems to me (from observations locally), that only "knuckle draggers" and xenophobics wanted out.
Come on folks let’s keep the motorcycle love. Remain or away we are all just sheeple. Now the BSB will look good this weekend. I am sure Honda have never been as good or successful since they incorporated ABS. Oh here we go.
I noticed the Beeb seems to lead the actor not actress posse. Well that us until a British female actor wins Best Actress at the Oscars/BAFTAs. Political Correctness was never my strong point and so I still call them actresses. If it becomes unacceptable they will simple be referred to as Stills, as in you can't call them it but they are still f**king actresses a'la Falkland Island Benny's.
I don't do political correctness , but I don't go out of my way to offend people either but if I do ......... tough
Obviously. With the new avatar, between you and @hitch I don't think either of you could be taken seriously at a Polling Booth.
