i saw many of you guys talking about this school and i would love if you can answer some questions about it i search the web and look at his site but some of the info are not clear to me ... 1st i think i got it right but just to be sure ..they provide you with a bike you dont bring yours right? 2nd i saw the price list and it sayed on track, premier and elite ... probobly thats the difrent stages you get depent on your driving but howthey judge where you go? couse they say if you want to go to the elite you have to had already done the premier but if you are already better than that (i am not saying i am just the question)will they move me group? 3rd do they provide you also leathers or you bring yours ? 4th is anyone done it if yes what is like ? thnx in advance guys
the thing is i dont many track days back in greece and i ride 1000 cc for the last 3-4 years + more years the 400 and 600/750 still i dont say i am relay good but on the premier lvl might be slower orwhat ever and basicly i dontt care if they are but the things they might teaching at premier might be things i already know ( i was part of a racing school in greece so i know most of the theory ) will be nice if someone done it already to post some info
I was there earlier in the year For the money you pay, they will provide everything. Bike, fuel, the instructor, insurance and leathers/helmet/gloves/boots. You just turn up and jump on. You can wear all/some of your own gear if you like, but you have to use their bikes. If you crash then you don't pay for repairs, but that's you finished for the day. In order to do the Elite you need to have done a session on the CBR600s (Premiere). They evaluate you and if you pass then you're eligible to book in for the Elite. The 600s were plenty quick and some were circulating faster than some of the Elites on their Fireblades. You can book the Elite for the same day if you pass the Premiere and there are spaces, but it's usually fully booked. After doing the 600s I was wired on adrenalin, but mentally pooped. Rode home like a zombie, so glad I didn't try for the Elite later on in the day. Something's to look forward to next year though The other 2 options are a beginner session on the track aimed more at track/speed virgins or teenagers and the other course is a handling slalom which is a slow speed technical riding thing (I think?)
thats nice ...i mean they give you even the leathers thats superb i mean i have my own equip but still super nice they have some kind of time youneed to pass through to go to elite or just they seehow you move in to the track?
I guess they want to make sure the rider isn't dangerous before they let people out on the fireblades -plus it's good business
still guys it seems realy cheap for all those that they provide? are they any extra costs ? or some catch?
It costs an extra £20 if you want to have a CD of pictures of your day. And you can pay to get a pillion ride with Ron himself. Don't know how much it is (£40?), but the instructor I had said he did it and it was mental er .... that's about it.
pillion ride? you mean sit behind him and let him drive through the track?? couse yes thats mental...mentall crazynes P
My Wife booked into the premier course in April for my Christmas present. Thanks Wife!! So I will report back then on my full experience. I do know that you can not swap over onto the elite if you have booked on the premier. How ever experienced you are/think you are, you will always learn something!!
I'm booked in for May in the premier class, can't wait. Then try and get into the elite before the end of the year.
I've done the race school twice. When you are booked into the Premier you stay there, there is no moving up to elite etc. You get your gear provided for you (you can of course take your own too if you like, i did when I did mine) Basically you go out in three sessions, and in between sessions the instructors pass you their feedback and advise you on improvements you can make, when i went they did a good part on body positioning whilst cornering, if you get a chance to get on the stationary bike to do this bit do, it really helps. You are then fully graded at the end and presented with a certificate and a goody bag. I lvoed it, yes its expensive compared to a normal track day but if you are a beginner looking to get into it, its the best around for the money and piece of mind that you wont wreck your own bike. I have some pictures somewhere at home, i'll try and pop them on here later. All the best Pete
thnx for your info pete ...but you sayd is good if you are a beginer ?? is that bad in the premier? i mean i ride track for like 2-3 years and i know the really basics ... if its like the way you describe . ofc its always an oportunity to learn more, but i woulnd like to pay for something that i basicly already know ... i dont know, still thinking to book or not ....at least if i book i hope i can book some day with guys from the forum so we gona have more fun with meeting thnx again for the info all of you guys
Hi Stefanos Perhaps we could have it as a proper forum outing? A mass exodus to Silverstone to overrun the track for a session The instructors will ride to your speed and experience. If you're inexperienced then they'll look after you and get you circulating quicker, but not take you past your limit. If you're already fast then instead of more speed, give you tips to refine your control and consistency. The instructors were brilliant. Had me riding harder than I thought was possible. It was a fantastic and mentally exhausting day
Its good if you are worried about damaging your P&J however you wont get as much track time if you are used to proper trackdays, you get 3 roughly 25 minute sessions spread over the day. So if you are going for a long duration of track time then i would say it isnt as good value as taking your own bike on track at a regular track day. I enjoyed it enough to do the Premier course 2 times. So in my eyes i thought it was worth it (Certainly better value than the car experience days you get where you do 4 laps on a track for around 200 quid.) So you all know, the school has moved from Silverstone, and back where it belongs at Donnington Park. I think anyone who goes will have a blast, really good day out and you get a chance to see Ron riding the track, considerably faster than anyone else with a passenger on the back. I hope that helps Pete
I did the one at Donnington with my Son Lee I was a good day out it would have been about 2005 it was run very well and you got a certificate at the end .The bikes at the time felt under powered but you had to do it on the 600s and then re-book later for the thous which I didn't .It felt fantastic blasting around and for the money it seemed like a privlage to ride the same track as Rossi .
