Hi all, I have an RR5 Blade and am looking to fit a quickshifter to it. I have been trying to decide which one to go for but there seem to be so many. I am running a Power Commander 3 which (from what I have read) makes a difference to the unit I need. Can anybody point me in the right direction here please?
HM Quickshifter + is the only way to go mate. Expensive but faultless HMQUICKSHIFTER :: The Next Generation Quickshifter Speak to Arthur about them, he can also supply them.
I must admit that the HM was going to be my likely choice, but wasn't sure if there was another out there. Nice one, thanks for that.
ive been looking for the same thing, a friend of mine had a power commander quick shifter, he said it was good but expensive
I saw the Dynojet one and from what I can see the version i need comes in at £192, plus the relevant shift rod, whereas the HM unit is about £380ish. I have read some mixed reviews about the dynojet version, but have had no experiencem myself. Ray advised the HM unit and I think this is the way i may go. But it is twice the price of the Dynojet one!! Arrgghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
I'm pretty sure with the PCIII you also need to purchase the Ignition Module in order for Dynojet's quickshifter to work on the Blade (8 injectors). I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will be along in a minute to correct me.
I have pretty much made my mind up to go with the HM unit. If you are going to invest in something trick, you may as well go for the best.
I'l never run anything other than HM. Well worth the dosh. Ignition cut is better than a fuel cut shifter as well. Get a HM Plus SH and you can't go wrong.
Another HM plus SH owner here, faultless shifting, looks great and transferable to your next bike, there is nothing not to like, contact Arthur for a good deal
Nice one Jamie, I guess that I can't say any more apart from lets get one ordered. Will get it fitted just in time for my next track day at Anglesey circuit. By the way Jamie, how do you rate the HRC quick action throttle? I am considering either this or an Active one. Any thoughts on yours?
The HRC Throttle is brilliant, not used it on track yet but even on the road it is so much better, You still have bags of control over the bike but it really does reduce the travel, at cadwell it was doing my head in with constantly having to move to get full throttle. Don't know much about the active set up but Stu from Cox Honda should be able to do you a deal on the full kit as he got mine and some other members their kits, tube, housing and cables also it makes sense to fit it at the same time as the QS as the bike will be in bits Glad your going with the HM shifter, I thought about the dynojet option but after my PCV took a dump I wanted something that is stand alone, at least you can unplug the PC and still have a QS, not the case if its all run via the PC
Right, time to dig deep and get this lot sorted. Thanks for all the advice guys, it is good to get feedback and advice from people who have tried and tested the gear. With the quick action throttle, I will go HRC and as you say Jamie, get it at the same time as the QS. I take it that this lot is all pretty straight forward to install at home? Do you ever get up to Anglesey circuit for track days? it is superb and now with the new pit complex, it does give you some shelter. As for the track itself, it is a bit of a mini Philip Island. Let me know if you are thinking of it. Thanks again.
Hi Arthur, not sure if it is me being slow or the like (has been known!) but I haven't had your PM as yet.
Its on my list mate, suppose to be an excellent track, just a bit of a trek for me from somerset Fitting is ok for the Quickshifter just strip off the tank cover, tank, airbox etc to gain access to the plugs, unplug the wires plug into harness and plug back into coils I have the control unit under the seat (will send you some pics if you like) also you will need to measure you gear change rod so Arthur can supply the correct rod (you will need to cut it down to the exact length you require) HRC throttle ..... the same bits off so you can access the throttle wires to disconnect and fit the HRC cables, its fiddly but not impossible I did it all myself at home no problems. Any ? let me know I will try my best to help and give pics etc as far as I can
Anglesey is an awesome circuit now, just try to book it for the full/international circuit and keep your fingers crossed for a dry day. When the conditions are right, it is epic. In terms of the fitting, it all sounds pretty straight forward really. I presume that the PC3 wires remain plugged into the upper injectors (if I remember correctly). Apart from that it all sounds ok, just time and patience. Many thanks again for your help and advice and offer of photos etc. Much appreciated.
Loving my Bazzaz QS, but having to get used to it when i was at Anglesey. I kept blipping the throttle or using the clutch, once I got used to pinning the throttle and just kicking it up through the gears it sounded lovely and did a great job
I just can't wait to get one ordered and fitted. I probably don't need one, but I sure as hell want one! Having said, that, I probably do need one for track days and for the grin factor too.
