was searching about last night for info on pcvs and maps for the blade found this one and thought it was quite interesting Power Commander Five: Proof - Mark Forsyth's Blog - Visordown
Good right up and I would have to agree with him it has made a big improvement to my bike once custom mapped and was worth every penny (less than he states it was £90 to map my bike), thanks for posting it up
The reason they over fuel top end is to account for ram air presure at high speed.. Its pre programmed in the OEM ECU. A power comander is ALL about AFR (air fuel ratio) and as a result of good AFR you may or may not see more power but the power you will have will be smooth as silk, one last thing is a remap is only as good as the Dyno Opp.! Just thought I would add that..lol
2011 Blade gets shot of steroids - Mark Forsyth's Blog - Visordown just found the other part of it deffo agree there arthur all down to the dyno opp
Good find Gixeric. I always like to see what sort of power can be achieved with certain mods, TBH it would be purely cosmetic for me, I always maintain I'm not a head down arse up merchant and any extra power would be a total waste on me, and I'm sure others too? But with certain mods like exhausts they may need sorting with other electrical goodies, so when I do get round to putting my after Market exhaust and power commander on my blade, yeah it's nice to know she's perhaps a few more ponies But I'm buggered if I'll ever have the need to use them? Interesting reading. Thank you.
No worries Gary glad its been a good read for people Ill be writing a couple when mine gets dyno'd will be very interesting as I've always maintained there is most certainly something up with my engine so at least this dyno pull on the article will give a nice comparison to my blade If it needs to go back to honda which I'm sure it does after listening to everyone on here wax lyrical about the power delivery. Fw are about an hour from me so will take it to them I think more than anything even if it just put out the same bhp the way the bike delivers the power after a power commander is what makes it special, like arthur said smooth silk power is far better than either a rush of power at the top like some bikes or stuttery like my blade will be interesting over the next month or so
(Edit I'm slow on the keyboard..) agree smooth mapping is what you want, a peaky engine with ups and downs will never be as fast or as easy to ride as one that has been well mapped.. Good AFR does not always make best power, best power can often be found with a leaner motor but thats not in the interest of most of us as engine life can suffer.. All the BIG power bikes I have rode (191rwbhp Cresent Tuned Suzuki GSXR1000, 200+bhp @crank D16rr) are surprisingly easy to ride and super smooth unlike say an older 120bhp R1 that feels like 200+bhp...lol
Yes all about delivery of power, I can't wait to get mine done "having a season standard first " then I'd like it on a dyno when zaust and pc is on just to see what's going on at the back wheel. Still won't use it though
Keith and Andy at DynoTech in Tadley.. Or H M Racing in Kent, A3, Right on M25, 45mins.. All the others are a bit of a treck! http://www.hmracing.co.uk/ http://www.dynojet.co.uk/tuningcentres-detail.php?id=25
I've heard a couple of other members mention good things about DynoTech in Tadley. The only other place I've really heard of is PDQ?
Don't know how far you want to travel but i have all ways used BSD Performance – The home of motorcycle performance tuning
+1 on BSD, depends how far you want to travel though. Will be using them again in March, Mark is brilliant on the dyno and really cares about doing the best set up he can.
Bruce and trig at JT engine developments are who I'll be getting to fuel mine in the next week or 3, they're absolutely brilliant and super thorough, last time I was there for ages as bruce likes to get it as perfect as poss. I'm pretty sure they do some developmemt work for triumph and others...... Top set up
