Well have finally bit the Bullet and converted the Tracker to Race Shift! ........then spent the next few days continually looking at it in the Garage thinking "duna fancy getting that wrong on the next TD!" Only one thing for it! Did the Road Bike too so I can have a bit of practice before the next outing! Only got it wrong twice in an hours ride so far!
Give it a couple of sessions & you'll be fine. Once you click with it, you'll wonder why you haven't done it before. Are you running QS on the track bike?
Ive been on race shift for some time now and imo makes absolute sense. More positive changes, no more struggling to get your foot under the gear change peg when accelerating hard and the ability to change gear on left handers......
I know it makes sense - shifting up through Coppice each lap kept thinking race shift would be loads easier - but I know I would forget and spit myself off!!!!
Have been thinking of giving race shift a go but wondered what's worst that could happen if you get it wrong? When there's load on the gearbox it doesn't allow you to change up a gear so is the same true if you tried changing down gears while accelerating hard? I'm using an HM GP qs so the clutch lever doesn't come into play when changing up.
