Hi peeps Am I right in thinking to change to a race shift pattern gear change I only need to replace my gear lever. I’m using Harris rearsets but they don’t do a race shift for the RR8 and upwards. anyone recommend a good quality gear lever if this is what will sort me out.
You need a lever where the shift rod can mount to the other side of the pivot. Some have the option for both on them.
Can you undo the pinch bolt on the gear shaft link , slide off and rotate 180 ° ,,,, just wondering .
I always thought that. I dont know if the shift rod will be at such an angle that it interferes with the sprocket cover or something?
Yes... All you have to do is rotate it 180º. Did it mine. However, you will have to either remove the cover or cut it, since the rod will "occupy" roughly this area I ended up cutting by cover, and then made a rather "crappy" plastic welding with other pieces of plastic so I could have the cover on, but without an hole.
