Race tail on a road bike

I want to upgrade the tail on my 08 blade. I very much like the 2012+ tail, but im not sure what parts i need to do this conversion. I guess i will need the undertail aswell? Is everything bolt on to my 08 subframe?

Has anyone fitted a race tail on a road bike? Is there enough room to have the stock tail light in a race tail? I know i would need to cut it. I like the seat cowl i have on the bike now, but it would look much better if it were all one piece.

Any thoughts?

 

Subframe is the same, does go straight on I have a '12 one on my '08. Tail light will be a problem unless there's a hole for one. Yes you'll need both bits of plastic and the number plate hanger

 

Do you need undertail if i were swapping just the upper tail cowl for a 2012? Talking about standard tail, for roaduse. Not track.

I'v already got an R&G plate holder on my bike, will this fit the 12+ parts? Got any pictures of your bike mate, just want to see how it looks

Unfortunately the R&G do differ between the years. I had to get a new one too bud. Yorkshire Gooner sold me one nice and cheap

Did not think i needed this many parts lol, just bought a 12 tail fairing from a guy here on the forum. Now i need the undertail and most likely a new plate holder too. lol

 

Yeah HRC bud and no lights for me. They're actually unplugged so they don't melt the cover.

You will need a new plate hanger but Yorkshire gooner will get you one bud. Don't give up they look boss compared to 08

 

The HRC looks so nice, pricey though?

I won't give up mate, haha, have been wanting to this upgrade for a while. I like that the 12 tail fairing looks wider, suits the bike more i think. The 08 tail is so narrow.

I prefered the narrow sleek tail unit but each to their own. A race tail on the road will look good mate.

HRC rearsets are very cool but expensive.

 

Your did not look bad, but that is not stock undertail. I like the 12. Ordered a new clear taillight aswell, so 12 tail with a clear taillight should be good.
