Got a letter today saying there's a recall, honda say its on my clutch and water hose? Anyone else had one of these? Its an RR8 on a 10 plate. Got it booked in already
so they're recalling all RR8's to be on the safe side? I'd heard something about the exhaust but not this.. its taken them nearly 2 years to write to me? i bought it new back in early 2010! Good to know its all of them though, cheers Benn
thats down to the dealers, not honda. the water hose & clutch recall was done shortly after release, its just some dealers are useless in dealing with it. i did 8 recalls on the coolant hose mesen in 2008
The recall was just for RR8's as far as I know. Mine was done before I bought it back in October 2010 so not a new recall. You can ring up your dealer and ask them to check the Honda database to see if its been done. Recalls seem to be common these days with most manufacturers, I remember the RSV4, latest ZX10R and S1000RR all having them. I seriously fancy jobbing my ZX6, SP2 and all there bling in towards getting a 1199 Panigale but one of the things stopping me is I want all the potential problems and recalls ironed out before I jump into Ducati ownership. Well that and rather than throw 19 large at a new one I fancy waiting a year and buying a nearly new on with £2000 of bling for £15000 ish.
If insurance goes as restricted on mods as the debates are suggesting then i will be calling in ducati for a chat , Possibly even Aprilia .
MCN Likes to scare monger IMO. I reckon there will always be a market for modified bikes. My current insurer is more than happy to cover virtually anything but they will only replace with Honda items in the event of a claim.
Swinton this year and previously been with Express and both were the same. In fact your hard pushed for them to be even interested in what mods you have (Im always paranoid there all listed) as they cover everything as standard apart from capacity increases and performance increases over 5% (I always say the race can and power commander is just for looks and to improve the fuelling and no improvement in power) or nitrous oxide, turbo etc..., but basically big performance changes. The only worry is you could have £3000 of bling on the bike and make a total loss claim but they would just pay for the bike to be repaired with OEM Honda items or right it off to the value of a standard bike, but at least your fully covered and the policy is not void because you did'nt tell them you had a carbon hugger or something silly like that.
