Great two weeks, 5 days S.France 5 days N.Spain about 3500mls. Went from Rosslare to Roscoff next time will go to England and then straight to Santander too much hassle losing two days getting down and then back up France! But grt motorways but ended up having to change frt and rear tyres during trip. Decided not to plan too much just got map and went for roads that looked twisty and it went great, thought i would stay one night then move on but ended up staying three nights in Le Puy because loads of great roads around there and great atmosphere in town. Stayed at B+B HOTEL which seems to be a type of franchise which are all over Europe, its cheap accommodation but very good 55Euro and can even get a room if no one at reception because they have machines like cash points to book in- B&B Hotels in France - Booking hotels online Then went into Spain over Pyrenees unreal scenery and stayed in Old City part of Pamplona for two days 4star hotel £35/per night, again atmosphere at night in old city was amazing. Brilliant roads everywhere as long as you get off main routes and dont be two determined about your route plan- one time i had planned to get to a particular road id heard about for years but was going to take a good 2hr motorway type roads to get to it, after 20mins left motorway and went on country spainish roads and spent around 3hrs driving the best tarmac ive ever ridden in 25yrs of motorcycling!! and still couldnt tell you where i was! Never got to that other road! I was pulled by Spainish police in a HELICOPTER!!, they could have thrown the book at me but thank god they let me off with a fine 100euro not reckless riding but too much speed and crossing solid white line. I would say to anyone thinking of going to Europe just do it and dont plan too much because once you get off the major routes it seems France and Spain are covered in fantastic biking tarmac!
Thanks for shareing dude, and love the pics, ridden in france but never in spain so def on me list to do
I got done for same - crossing white line and speeding, they are really hot on it there. Unlike you and your 'copter story I got nabbed by an unmarked seat Ibiza lol
Thanks for the write up kidder, pics tell the story. It sounds like a great way to spend your holiday
That copper seems really friendly, probably because you're on a repsol Honda Like Ken said respect for being chased by a chopper, I'd have more respect if it had been an Apache like
Always polite to cops as my mother always said 'manners cost nothing' I think being Irish helped big time and that the two cops were also bikers. They told me they thought i was running from them- I saw them beside me for a while but i thought it was a civilian having fun looking for a race!! (i have no common sense) But if in UK id say i would have been in big trouble or if id met a Spainish cop having a bad day etc Anyway onwards and upwards!
