A tyre question with a difference.
I'm not one of those who has to have matching tyres but my Pirelli Dragon will be due for replacement for the beginning of next year. I have plenty of rears to work my way through, but would like a really good front that I can trust as I'd struggle to stay shiny side up if the front gave way, the back I can handle (touches wood).

BT023 would get my vote - but everyone has their own favourite tyre now

Tyres are subjective. I prefer to use sticky tyres over touring ones. Used to use Corsa 3's back in the day then went to Super Corsa's, but now all I'm using is Bridgestone R10's. I had Pirelli Angels on for a good while and hated every mile.

I recommend black, round, squiggly lines and made or rubber!

As already said, ask ten people and get ten different answers.
    My preference is Dunlop sportsmarts.

Yep, i accept that i will get several different answers. What i want is to know which tires i can trust on the front so i dont buy sh1t. So thanks for the shopping list guys, it gives me something to go on so i know what to track down.

Interested to know where you can buy ex bsb tyres from though?

Thanks guys. I got me a set of ex race Interact K2's for £80.
I'll put the front on when my Pirelli is on it's last legs and the rear in time for next summer. Both should last me the best days of summer next year now and I can get a bit more confident now I've almost finished fettling.

I was going to get ex track tyre's but my mechanic told me if they were heated using tyre warmers and used on track it would void my Insurance.

I'm with RichC all the way on this one. Racetecs rock! What's the point of putting a mediocre tyre on? I fitted a Pirelli Strada one time to go touring Spain and hated it. It felt like it was made of nylon, no feel, feedback or grip but hey it was really cheap and lasted ages...........Yeah right! Most on here are quite happy to spend hundreds on their bike on gimmicky extras like anodised preload adjusters or carbon fibre huggers then skimp on the one thing that actually makes a difference. So what if you go through two or three sets in a year, I know I do. But when you're cranked over and pushing on at least you can count on them to get you round the bend without drama!

The only reason track tyres would void your insurance is if you are running slicks on the road. Used racetecs, supercorsas ect are all road legal even if used and abused on a race track

i believe the racetec k1 + k2's are not road legal but the k3's are. this could why you think they would void your insurance

i dont quite understand how heating them with tyre warmers can make a differance for your insurance being invalid or not, if i used a hair dryer to warm my tyres up my insurance would not be invalid :D
