Sort of bikey but would come in handy for something I have had lots of different makes of drill bits (Mikita, B&Q, Wickes, Dimond tip things) but most don't last very long. So what would you recommend? cobalt drill bits? I would like a set I can use for Metal, Wood and Stone. Anything I need to look at for a good quality drill bit?
No expert but the minimum you want is HSS drill bits (High speed steel) they just last longer. Spose it's a case of you get what you pay for... just don't get them from the pound shop !!
We do a lot of Drilling and would not consider using anything less than a Cobalt set for longevity. Anything else just doesn't last 5 mins. Buy Cheap by Thrice or more. Sumat like this set. Erbauer HSS Cobalt Drill Bit Set 15Pcs | Screwfix.com
What they said, Erbauer or similar Cobalt bits. Best things for stainless drilling. So called Titanium ones are crap.
well seems HSS cobalt is the way to go and was just the set I was looking at cheers for the feedback all
Yes concur with the above on the Cobalt drills...I work in heavy industry and it's mainly stainless or hardox steel used, ordinary HSS drills don't last 2 minutes but cobalt ones last a damn long time. I would, however, recommend buying tub of drilling paste/lubricant to give the drills a helping hand and prevent heat taking the hardness out of the cutting edge.
