    Hi All,

I appreciate this topic has most probably been done to death and doing a search brings up hundreds of results but I would like you to recommend me a set of decent sticky sports tyres.

I have had recently fitted a pair of Avon ST Storm AV55/56 on the bike (04RR) and I have absolutely no confidence in them whatsoever. The rear wheel just spins on the spot in the wet, If i accelerate at any speed and it's damp and wet the back just breaks traction. It did it a few weeks ago and I though it may have been greasy/diesel covered roads but I've been out again today and it's doing it again. I had Metzeler Rennsports on it previously and I had no issues with them although the rear only lasted about 3k.

I don't track ther bike, just use it as a toy when I can but I enjoy a spirited ride although I'm no expert rider getting my knee down at every corner, but I would like to learn how to do that. The Storms just don't inspire me with confidence at all and I feel like I can't lean the bike at all as it may break traction at the rear.

I'm happy to stick to Metzelers Rennsports but they have now been discontinued bbut will consider other makes on your recommendations.

    Many thanks.

Has been done to death but I really like my Michelin 2CT power pures. They've been used for mainly fast road riding, used on track and in the dry and ridiculously wet. They're solid and predictable in all conditions once you get the Tyre Pressures right, I go for 34/38.

If your not fussed about mileage and just want good grippy tyres, pirelli rosso corsa's imo are fantastic but not very good in the wet or rosso 2 would offer a bit better mileage, also dunlop sportsmart's are also very good, a bit cheaper would be the pilot power 2cts. Any of these would be ideal for spirited road riding.

Dunlops Sportsmarts all the day if it's road and some track, Epic tyres. just amaing on track and also when touring,

I have only gone to Dunlop GP Racers as i'm heading towards more track days than road riding.

Thanks everybody, I'm leaning towards the Michelin 2CT power pures, not cheap but they have very good reviews in general.

Really? That's interesting. Are they good in the wet/damp? They're about the same price as the Michelins.

they are the best all round tyre I have used, and I've used BT014,015 & BT 016, 2Ct's plus others but the sportsmarts have been great in very wet weather at over motorway speeds in Spain. trackdays they have been great in wet or dry. and even better in the dry

Haha. That's where they should go.. It's very strange as the Blackbird boys absolutely love them, They are obviously more suited to heavier bikes..

Unfortunately they are a different size on the blackbird mate. The rear is quite a bit smaller. Thanks for the offer though it's appreciated.
