Fitted new reg/rec and stator, wasn't a job I was looking forward to doing, but it's done!!! Most of the info on diagnosing faulty stator and how to change it, was obtained from here, so a big Thank you to all of you who have posted bits and bob's on the subject. Cheers

No not really, the hardest part I found was breaking the seal, and pulling the cover off. Put a cloth or towel on the floor just in case you drop it. I used a screw driver behind the lug at 3 o clock as you look at the cover and gently levered till it popped. I didn't remove the belly pan either, just the middle one, and released the belly pan and let it hang enough for me to get at the bolts. You will get a dribble of oil. I finished it in about 2 hours but that was taking everything real slow and having several coffees as well. Good luck.

Cheers mate. We have got to the point of measuring the volts / amps from the battery, rectifier and stator. Just reading on this to see what it should be reading numbers wise.

I'm sure that's the people I emailed a couple of weeks ago. Think the quote was around the 100 quid mark? If it's worth it though then I may take them up on it. I'm getting the itch and want out on the roads asap!

I called WCW before I did mine, they quoted £126 inc postage back. I went for a new one from Germany in the end and changed the reg/rec at same time.

Don't want to rain on your parade but........If it's an 04-05 model you really should fit the latest flywheel/ stator set up as used for the 06-07 model otherwise we may well be discussing this again in a few months time.

    Just saying like

Do you know how to tell if the Stator/flywheel, was done under warranty? I read somewhere that the dealers put a punch mark on the VIN plate, any idea if that's true. My bike was bought new and owned for most of it's life, by the head sales guy at my local dealership. Can't imagine the upgrade wasn't done. Just for the record, my stator blew at 20k. I think the originals were lucky to make it to 12k.

As far as I know dot punching was for Recalls only and as there was never a Recall in the UK for stator upgrades I dought there will be a punch mark to verify whether it's had one under warranty.
