Has anybody had the mirrors off their 08 Blade ? and if so how easy is it as with the indicators being fitted in the mirrors I imagine you have to unwire them before removal so not as straight forward as on previous models.

Also does anybody know where to get some mirror blank off plates from or even better use them on their 08 as I m considering removing my mirrors for trackdays.

All help and advice welcome (well sensible advice LOL !!!!)

    Hi

To remove the mirrors there are 2 nuts each side to remove.

Behind the clock bracket you will see a black rubber conduit if you trace it back from the mirrors and the plugs are inside there.

There is enough length to pull the plug out easy enough.

    It's a 1minute job

stunning to know it's that easy. I was thinking the same thing on my 60 plate blade for my trackday next month.

I've had mine off a couple of times while fitting screens etc and it's a doddle

Not sure where you will get blanking plates from

When I tracked road bikes I would just use a tie wrap thru the 2 holes. Doesn't matter if it rubs the paint as the mirror will hide it when you refit anyway

Or you could possibly get someone to make some for you. Seems fairly simple.
There used to be a guy on the US CBR forum who made them in carbon fibre.

Taking them off and putting them on is fine, taking them apart is a nightmare with the self tapping screw holding them together. Also buying the parts all genuine is also a pain as they're split over two separate sections - winkers and mirrors and building them isn't a smooth process either !

But yeah taking them off and putting them back on is easy enough !
