Just been in the garage to take the rear footrests off my 2012 blade jesus looks like you have to take nearly the full subframe apart, so yes thought sod it they can stay on.

It's about an hour and a half work, unless you fit some street hooks of similar and then they take 30 secs to put back on!

Bike looks 10 times better without them

Yes quickest way is to strip the rear end then split the subframe
    Pita
If your going for it get some rexpeed plates or similar so you can fit the rear pegs without the hassle if you require :)

I'm shure there is a how to do it in one of the stickies.
The split the subframe method is by miles the easiest, its not to bad just seems like a big job just to remove the pegs;)........just make shure you use a torque wrench to reasemble the 4 main bolt that hold the suf frame together.

I'm going to do it just popped in the garage tonight hoping it'd be a quick job, any idea of the torque settings for the subframe bolts?

I have also recently done this job on my HRC blade before I found out I was having to sell. Used this http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/9494.htm to help. Not as difficult as first thought. Also I got a manual from the states for around £40 and was not expecting great things due to price.....when it arrived looks like a genuine workshop manual. Extremely impressed

Took me 40 mins, subframe bolts were just tightened on mine, no torque wrench for me on those

Well that's the rear footrests gone, a great big thank you for all the advise went along the split the sub frame route in the end 45 minutes and they were gone and the bike back together only tricky bit was that sneaky little screw under the fuse box but eventually found it.
Was again a great big thanks and yes it does look 10 times better without them.
