Ok guys anybody care to enlighten us not in the know. As I understand it repsol blades & 600rr are only available every other year. Ie a year behind the current production model. Last time I was at my honda dealer he told me that there will be no more repsol bikes produced by honda . I thought he meant this year but he was adamant no more ever again, I find it hard to believe. Then next I see what is claimed to be the 2014 repsol colours on a brand new blade for 2014. At £13,500 dunno if it's just what somebody has had sprayed or if it really is the 2014 repsol colours . If it is it looked shocking in my opinion. Clues ?
I wouldn't have thought they will stop the repsol colours as long as the moto gp bikes are sponsored by repsol
been a few threads heres 1 from March last year http://1000rr.co.uk/general-1000rr-discussion/9279.htm
Oh right, I wasn't a blade owner way back then , just an r6 screamer owner. Seems it's a spray job and not official honda next release
Honda do run the repsol livery every two years like you thought, and tbh I seriously doubt Honda would pull it due to its popularity! As far as the bike you posted pics of that's defo a paint shop comitioned unit as Honda wouldn't put a 93 on the front as they have two riders they are paying a good few bucks for and it could alienate ped fans from buying that livery! Remember it's all about selling as many bikes as possible! Quite a few dealerships commission special paint jobs for bikes that don't sell well in the current stock livery. This is not just a Honda thing almost every manufacturers race machines have been copied in order to sell a less desirable livery bike. Oh and as far as your local honda dealer telling you their won't be another repsol livery......we're you by chance thinking of holding off purchasing your new to you repsol bike till next year??? If so they probably just wanted you to buy the bike then an their rather than losing the sale!
No mate I've bought an my13 repsol blade brand new on march 1st on a 14 plate keeping it another 2 yrs minimum . Just love it but keeping an eye on what's the latest etc. interesting when honda bring out the next repsol .............. Tbc
They do tend to alternate between HRC and Resol livery's each year! Not sure if this is to show Hondas involvement in motogp with the Repsol livery and the HRC livery to highlight the road and endurance racing commitments? But as said Honda alternate HRC/Repsol so the Repsol version is every two years and normally either of those livery's are grouped with another two livery options for each model of bike in the Honda sportsbike range.
Quite a few dealers send their bikes to Dream Machine for this paint job. Honda UK have not released this scheme.. yet. If they did you would see them at all the dealers. Another tell tale sign is the more luminous orange. Honda only use a non luminous orange (Vibrant Orange) as it fades less quickly than the colour on the GP bike and 'other' repsol replicas. Not sure we will see the current style 2015 Repsol Fireblade in the new scheme, just depends on if they announce a new bike.
