Tools you need: Household polish, flat screwdriver, philips screw driver, Allen key for the clutch side grip, silicone sealant, white spirit or paraffin, paper towels and some loctite blue. Clutch side: 1. Take bar ends off original grips. 2. Slide a screwdriver or flat blade under the original grips, and spray some household polish in the gap. Do this in several places. This will make the grips really easy to slide off. 3. Slide the grip off while twisting at the same time. 4. clean the bar with paraffin or white spirit to remove the polish. 5.add silicone sealant to the bar before sliding the rizoma grip on. Don't worry about putting too much on, the excess will be squeezed out when you slide the grip on and can be easily removed with paper towel dipped in white spirit to clean the excess. I added the silicone sealant to set the new grip as i don't want to just rely on the 2 set screws supplied. 6. Before fitting the set screws, add loctite to them as they are small and fiddly, and screw thin in the grip a quarter of the way. 7. rotate the rizoma grip so that the lettering is facing up (this looks better imo) 8. use the allen key to screw the set screws in, make sure they are tight. Done!
Throttle side: 1. Remove original grip as described above. You need to do this to access the cables. 2. undo the throttle housing. 3. slack off the throttle cable to max, as this will help attaching the cable to the new throttle housing/rizoma grip. 4. Turn the housing as far as it will go to remove the underneath (return) cable first. This one comes out really easy. Turn the housing back again and remove the other cable. This is really tight in the hole, and i ended up getting frustrated and breaking the tab off the original throttle. No worries though, as you have one with the grip, but if you are worried about this, take your time and it will come out with needle nose pliers. 5. You need to decide which throttle cam is to be used, and you also need the spacer supplied. Slide the spacer on first, then the cam, then the grip and rotate the grip to have the lettering facing up. The cables attach into the new housing really easily. 6. put the bar end on, and this will stop the rizoma grip from sliding off, and makes things easier. 7. tighten everything up, and adjust the slack in the cables to suit. Done!
Si, that looks the bollocks, mate, and a great step by step too. Plus congratulations, I think you've made dan rewrite his letter to Father Christmas.
Cheers! One thing i forgot to add, the new throttle which is the grip, has less of a turn to full throttle. Not a quick action throttle, but it definitely reduces the need to twist by i reckon a quarter of a turn. Happy days!
