I did my first "blade" track day last september at knockhill and was just blown away by the experience. I had done the Haslam school on the 600's earlier in the year, but it didnt come close to 8 x 20 min sessions on my own bike. Not once did I feel that I would lose it or bin it, so you should be fine taking your own bike. I did use a trailer that day at Knockhill though, riding home would have been hell as I was physically knackered.

Yes we did cadwell as our first trackday.120 miles there roughly 70 miles on track and then the ride home too much for one day..think Donny my best option only an hour away..

I thought that this was an old thread resurrected for a moment there :D

Yeah there's a few using road bikes on track. I did a few myself, but ended up buying a track bike as it rids the fear of binning your pride & joy.

I used all my road bikes on track but the ride home afterwards was terrible as I was absolutely knackered, and the thought of binning my pride and joy.

thats exactly how Im feeling at this point.. one track day and thinking I want a "track hack"! got 2 track days at Knockhill booked for 2015 so far - one in April and one in May. If the bike and I survive those, i will likely buy a tracker for the rest of the year.. seems to be plenty of them going around for various reasons.
