Hi just booked Ron haslam race school. Have any of you done this before? What are your thoughts? I'm pretty excited as I've never been on track before on a bike. Was hoping to maybe get a track bike, Also any pros and cons that I should know about the school. Cheers
I have done it twice now and plan to do it again, fantastic day even in the pissing down rain and I only ride when the suns out!
yes I've done it also.. was a great first time out on track for me and lapped it up! nothing you should know up front i dont think as its pretty much plug-n-play.. awesome day out especially when you pass all your mates haha
I've done a couple, 600's in the morning and fireblades in the afternoon. Brilliant day. A lot better than the two race schools I did at Mallory a few years ago. On the RHRS you can ride at your pace and if that's faster than the other guy you get picked up by a roving instructor. On the Suzuki one at Mallory I got black flagged for leaving the other guy and the instructor ( the other guy reckoned he raced a Ducati but was as slow as fcuk).
I did the premier course last year best time I have had on a track, bad thing is you just start getting to your limit and then you run out of time, I scored 85% with instructors comment ,nice to see slider down where ever possible. I am doing the elite course this year on may 13th and I can not wait. See if I can improve on score on a blade instead of the cbr600rr.do it you will love it
Yes Phil, bit the bullet and bought myself an r6 tracbike over the winter, looking forward to riding it as I've only been able to go up and down an old aerodrome on it so far
Phil, RHRS is on my to do list for this (or if they are all fully booked next) year. Please let us all know how it goes/went as I plan doing one around September. I really do think I will get the track day bug though.
Im booked in for it on the 13th may on the 600. Ive never done a track day before but cant wait to get out on track. All ive heard is good reviews.
I did one 3 weeks after passing my test and loved it. I even got my knee down on the last session. Its a good introduction I think to riding on track because you do not realise just how fast you are actually going. Be warned though, if you bin it that's your day over even if its on the first corner.
Going to book one up soon, as a birthday present, been around and raced at Donnington in a car, but never on track on a bike.
Don't worry mate, I'm still on crutches so won't be too soon. Would you like me to book Alex Lowes and Leon Haslam again??
Laura has a deal going with them, 60 Blade owners from the Facebook page, I think there are 6 more spaces. https://www.facebook.com/groups/firebladeowners/
