Monday 16th Left Troyes....again more rain, decided to use the Autoroute all the way to Calais. 260 odd miles, no traffic jams, no roadworks, superb road surface and very little traffic (the French do like to leave very little gap between them and the vehicle in front) even in heavy rain at 110 + kph. Total tolls 19 euro. Couple of fuel stops, at Reims and somewhere else. Arrive in Calais and boared one of P & O's finest ferries. along with 5 coach loads of German students ! Got into Dover, and on to the M20, within 10 miles, 5 mile traffic jam...Welcome home. So to sum up... Just under 2000 miles in 6 days. Fuel cost...dont know let you know when the bill comes in... I think about 50 + gallons Toll's about 30/35 euro. Oil used (virtually 0) Would I do it again..f*** yeah Setting of for RN The D917 (briliant road from Troyes to Dijon) On the RN How the f*** did they build that church. A busy street scene on a Sunday Lunch !! The smallest Hotel room....made a Premier look like the Ritz The better Ibis Bedroom ! in Troyes P & O home...one very dirty Blade !!! .
Glad you had a ball! The one and only downside to riding abroad is that it ruins riding back here. The roads, scenery, light traffic, great food and weather - everything you don't get here! Now you've got the bug the fun part starts with planning next year's trips...
I like to cane it down the motorway and spend more time in the intended destination. I find the endless towns and vallages a pain in the neck on the N and D roads. The quicker I get to Castellane, the better!
