Just thought I ,would post some info, about my recent trip along the Route Napoleon. Thought it may be of interest to anyone considering doing a similar trip next year. Day 1....Calais > Troyes (to avoid Paris) approx 235 miles..Stayed at the Golden Tulip on the way out and the Ibis Styles on return. Both very good hotels, with secure bike parking.. Day 2....Troyes > Grenoble approx 300 miles...Stayed at the Hotel Arena on the way out, again secure parking and just off the Autoroute, so easy route to start of the Route Napoleon....on the way back Comfort Hotel just outside of Grenoble (shite don't stay there) Day 3...Grenoble > Grasse on the Route Napoleon...approx 190 miles...Stayed at the Best Western in Grasse (pool for chilling with beer after riding the route Napoleon) and not far from Nice. Day 4/5/6..Return route. Credit card bill through yesterday..Total fuel cost...£202. Tolls... £16.25, Tented to stay off the Autoroutes, as wanted to use 'more interesting roads' but used them when we had too. Longest Autoroute was on last day, Troyes > Calais £5.45 If your thinking of doing the RNap next year and want some more info PM me.
