As above, am sending my rocker, clutch and alternator covers away for aqua blasting but could be an issue if they are magnesium, does anyone know?
I suffered with the dreaded galvanic corrosion to a mag sump on the RR6, and I was told at the time to engine covers as above were mag as well. Not 100% certain on the covers, but the sump is. Funny enough like the ABS issue, Honda turned a blind eye to that one, and refused to help.............they have previous.
ok thanks KB, I remeber reading they changed to mag for the RR6 to save some wieght but cant remember if I imagined that, you can never trust everything you read on wiki anyway! Come on you RR4 owners you must know
Ok done some Google digging.. and found this about the 2006 model improvments: "A new, more simplified internal design for the electronic control unit (ECU) results in a modest reduction in its weight, making yet another small but significant contribution to the overall weight loss. A new magnesium ACG cover further contributes to reduced engine and overall machine weight; previously, only the head cover and oil pan had been constructed of magnesium." So looks like the rocker and sump are mag on mine after all.
Also look at your sump, if you are unlucky, it will look like it has been attacked by a beaver, or worse, dripping oil.
