Looking at getting new rubber and was torn between 190/55 metzler racetec RR's or the supercorsa sp V2's. But have been offered bridgestone RS10's on a 200/55 at a good price. Now I run standard 190/50 size at the moment and was only thinking of moving up to the 55 profile as every gives good reports (I'm looking for the stickyist road legal rubber to use on track, not got to worry about wet or high mileage). How would the 200/55 feel and ride compared to the 190/50?
That's a great question..........why don't you search the forum and find page after page after page on the results!
Im a metzeler fan. Using k3 190/55 atm and will be going for RR when it comes to changing. Wouldnt go back to a 50 profile after using 55. I have mates on both the other tyres you mention, no complaints.
Just remember that a 205/55 is a good bit taller than a 195/55 as the 55 is the aspect ratio. 55% of 195mm = 107.25mm 55% of 205mm = 112.75mm so 5.5mm difference. There's not much clearance on my RR-7 with a 195/55 so a new 205/55 would almost definitely be fouling the hugger.
Sorry, I deal mainly with car tyres in my job hence the car sizes being in my head. Either way the difference is similar: 55% of 190 = 104.5mm 55% of 200 = 110mm So the difference is actually more than initially thought (albeit by 0.5mm!).
Ah ok fair enough, I may stick with the 190 to be on safe side then, think ill deffo try the 55 profile as loads of good reports of better turn in etc. So just choice of corsa or racetec hmm choices choices lol
£30 cash back with fitted metzelers if that helps make the decision... http://www.metzeler.com/site/uk/mobile/
Just to throw another option into the pot. I've just changed from Dunlop D211's (can't get them anymore) to Conti Race Attacks. I'm finding the grip is on par with the Dunlops, warm up slightly quicker and were much easier to scrub in due to something called Black Chili compound whatever that is. Only thing I preferred the quicker turn in of the Dunlops, oh and the Conti's are pretty cheap too.
Looking around the sets are all between 250-280 so very little between them really, I'd heard good reports of the conti's as well but if I can't find any real cheap think I'll stick to racetec or Pirelli
