Well there come s a time when the elements have to be challenged and we have to rise and fight? Ok so I'm only taking the blade out with salt still ever present on Lincolnshire roads but I can't wait any longer, even if its just for a quick blast she will ride this weekend
I had to bite the bullet earlier on this week... I hadn't taken the bike out after buying it 2 weeks ago but it just had to be done, salt or no salt. Gave me a good excuse to spend a few hours in the garage afterwards too, to give it a good clean and polish to get all the crap off it!!
Last night I was more than aware of the massive amount of de-icing grit that has been sprayed onto bone dry roads over the last month that has been swept to the sides of the roads. A beach, two or three feet wide in some places, usually on unsighted bends so watch yourselves. Plus, when it does rain again, its going to bung the drains.
I woke to the sun shining and thought. Yesssssssss. Wandered outside for a ciggy with my cup of pick me up and it’s bloody freezing, Think I’ll see what it’s like later on. Whilst on subject of salt. We drove off the ferry yesterday afternoon and it was very noticeable how much salt we chuck on our roads compared with the Europeans, but that’s nothing compared to the amount of salt in a well-known Heartburn and indigestion medicine. After eating over rich sea food it felt like my insides were on fire the last couple of days, so after swigging from the little bottle last night I noticed the warning: “Each 10ml of this medicine contains 141mg of sodium and should not be taken without telling your doctor if you are taking Ace inhibitors used to treat high blood pressure” I slept well safe in the knowledge that although I might have a heart attack it least it won’t be burning at the same time.
just got back my self bike coverd in salt. but gave it a good wash and now its ready for tomorrow not been out for 6month only did 120miles and fecked need to get fit quick
last day of the financial year for councils , so if they dont throw as much salt on the roads as possible today, they dont get as big a budget for it next year.
Rucks of Salt on the way up to the Ponderossa this afternoon and still a shed full of snow banked up either side of the pathways, however the view was nice after a hot Latte!
was there me self today unreal how much snow there is up there still. sat in the cafe with an 6 foot snow drift outside the window
If you want company give me a shout Simon, it will need to be a text though, my iPad doesn't fit in my pocket
Salt=NOT I thought I would take the FB out today but decided against it. Roads round here far too salty and I really CBA to spend one hour cleaning just for the sake of a couple of hours ride out. Sorry FB but I am actually wanting rain at the moment to get it washed away.
I cleaned mine within an inch of its life but by the end of today it was stinking again.few minutes with a power hose and muc-off sorted that right out.
Me, Carl and Paul had a good ride out to Willingham woods today, was a great turn out too, most bikes I have seen there this year so far tea now, and then off to clean the blade Simon
I enjoyed the ride Simon, nice to meet Paul. Same here, Sunday roast a the the bike got the business end of the hose pipe. Great turn out and a few nice blades although blue RR5's seem to be a little common I didn't enjoy the unpredictable corners though I settled a little on the way home, we need a good rain followed by dry weather to clean them up.
Great pictures Carl Yeah it would seem my Blue blade is almost as common as that Repsol one Mine had a good clean too, damn salt, and agree that we need a good rain storm to wash it all away. and of course, NO MORE SALT we all need 1000rr.co.uk bike stickers
