Could somebody shed some light what are the actual differences between these two models. Sometimes I've read that the base engine is the same and the differences between the chassis are minor.

The only major change is electronics. The rest is a lot of small changes which add up. +14hp and -10kg over previous, i think. Go for the SP, the quickshift, autoblip and self-adjusting ohlins are all brilliant.
