Just got back from an amazing trip to Scotland, highlight had to be Applecross pass, stunning. Everyday was red hot and sunny. Don't think I'll ever forget it.
It's stunning. We stayed in a bike friendly hotel who let us put our bikes in a locked garage. The hotel fronts onto loch earne which is beautiful. The first thing we saw in the morning was an Osprey, amazing and highly recommended.
Great trip Raphael . The roads are deserted. Bad start though when my rear tyre blew out 45 miles from home. Got a lift home with the bike by a work colleague, took the wheel off, next day drove to Leeds for a tyre. Fitted wheel and rode 265 miles up to Scotland to meet everyone else. It was worth it though. Attached is a picture of the tyre and the view from the hotel Window.
Not a good start but probably better closer to home than half way there? Will get up there on the bike at some stage, the only problem is I want to stay up there
Would be good to get a load of blades up there! To be fair I was really comfy on mine, trouble is you just end up going too fast!
As long as I'm alive I will not take a bike up to Applecross again, stunning scenery but they've got a cheek calling it a road ( dirt track maybe ), just my point of view of course.
Loch Earn is a regular route of mine. Lucky in that it's just a few miles up the road and easy reach for a cheeky evening coffee. Great roads in all directions as well. Glad you enjoyed your adventure!
Fantastic road from Crieff to lochearnhead will be doing that route on the monday after bsb at knockhill
Got to agree with you on this. Nice views/route but the road is crap and ranks very low on my favourite Scottish roads. Living in Aberdeenshire I have very easy access to some of the very best A 4 day, 3 night trip my wife and me had a couple of weeks ago. Weather was lousy but great roads and no traffic.
Me and the wife had a good holliday up there last year, that good am going back this year on me own on the blade
Some quality pictures there with a pair of cracking bikes, I was on a SP2, Dumfries to Portree via Mallaig then up the west coast to Ullapool, weather was mostly dry but cold. A9 is horrendous with the average speed cameras, next trip is to Argyll for the day.
Just back from a quick run to Portree myself, amazing up there we had one 250 mile loop from Kinlochleven , via the Bridge onto skye, home via ferry to Mallaig. Was good to mark the summer solstice with a trip on the bike
wish i lived close enough to just pop up there! had plans to ride up to ullapool and over to stornoway last year but couldnt get a week off so had to fly gutted!
Had some amazing trips up there and when the weather is good it's simply amazing... As for getting some blades up there, how many we get? 20+ and my r1? Lol
The view of the loch shows two boats at the shoreline................the speedboat with the stainless hoop thing attatched to the right of the pic is actualy a workmate of mine, the boat is 25 years old and has an american v8 engine, it is some machine when it is singing down the loch
