Hi Peeps, Has anyone fitted a Scott Oiler to their Bike? Mine is the 2011 Model. I know it works by using the vaccum, but how does this work on an injected bike? And is it worth fitting one? Thanks in advance Jay
I install it in mine precisely a 2011 model. It was the official dealer who did the job and no problem with the warranty. After almost 1000Km I feel it smoother and much more convenient. Till now everthing is ok! Kafka
I did have one on mine mate, I used to swear by it on my 97 blade. Definitely makes the chain last longer, if your doing a few miles and can't be arsed to keep spraying the bugger. Heres my install vid although I have removed it now, as it seemed to stop working and I got fed up
I have had one fitted to every bike I have had and never had any issues, ok you might need to play about with the flow adjuster when the ambient tempatures change to keep the flow correct but I prefer it to having to clean & reoil the chain in couple of hundred miles! Find it great for touring about, much less hassle IMHO. Oh and injection bikes produce a vacuum at the throttle bodies the same as the carb versions and the scottoiler attaches to the throttle body vacume connections these same connections are used to sync the throttle bodies with each other. ColinBr has a scottoiler fitted to his 2010 abs blade and has the same experience as me only requiring the flow adjuster needin some tweaking as the ambient temps increase and decrease as the oil get thinner and tends to cause a fair bit of cast off onto the rear wheel. But correctly adjusted the unit works great and depending on your fitter can look very neat and discreet once on the bike!
Yeah it seems to be promising... I put this system because i needed to change the chain (at 40.000Km). I think the classic way a little bit incorrect. The chain is not lubricated with a constant amount of oil. In the first km after the application is ok. But in the last km (before the next application) the chain has a deficit of lubrification... Things are worst in a long trip at high speed, as in highway... But i'll see ...
I have installed 1 on my 2008 blade. When it's fitted properly it's very good. I had a slight issue. The back tube must of got dislodged and contacted the chain. This in turn misaligned the flow. I only noticed when the chain was getting discoloured. I do like it for the road bike, but check every now and then, to where the flow is being deposited.
