Well, just back from Edinburgh at the Scottish bike show.. only the 2nd year I've gone and got to say it was a bit shite. Very poor turn out from manufacturers, clothing being sold was mostly cheap stuff (gloves £20 etc), no BMW stand, just overall a disappointment. Managed to find 1 stand that was selling Alpinestars gloves and asked to try on the GP Tech Fluro in large.. got nothing but abuse from the lady behind the counter after I tried on the XL (was a fraction long in the thumb) after i questioned why she didn't carry a large! £5 to park, £16 to get in. Did manage one bargain though, Niall McKenzie School in April for £175 instead of £225 booked which I suppose paid for the Diesel from Aberdeen lol Roll on the NEC..
well.. on the plus side, just bought a set of those gloves on the internet (from Spain I think) for £152! bargain as they were £220 reduced to £180 at the show http://www.motocard.com/en/gloves/gloves-alpinestars-gp_tech_black_white_red_yellow_fluo_136.aspx
I go every couple of years and say I wont be back, it was getting more like a Sunday market full of cacke. Glad i didnt go.
Was there myself as well today. To be honest we go more as a chance to meet up with friends and as a start to the bike season than a chance to pick up a bargain. Was interested in a new lid but deals were thin on the ground. It's just another tick in the box closer to getting out to play!!
Went on the Saturday, bought a t shirt for the wee lass, highlight was John McGuiness at the knockhill stand, top bloke. Plenty helmets for sale but disappointed at lack of sizes for clothing as was hoping to pick up a new jacket. Drooled on a Pannigale, was quite impressed by the KTM,decided that the current Fireblade still looks so much better than the R1 and Kwak 'cylon' thing, but really wanted a seat on the new BMW as it's my next bike I think
Sounds like the Scottish show was like the London show, a few bargains but not much to look at from the manufacturers
Also went on Sat (was very busy)... wasn't there last year but was the year before..... never expect much from it but it's good to see some of the new bikes. Pannigale was v. nice and the 899 may be my next bike.... R1 also nice but I wasn't keen on the red/white..... also wasn't keen on the Repsol livery of the new Blade..... colour just didn't look right! Did manage to pick up the helmet I wanted for a good price and it's always good listening to McGuiness...... all in all I thing we were there for about 2½ hrs, said we won't go back next year.... but probably will
Had the sp2 5 yrs, the blade was thrown down the road in Germany nearly 2yrs ago, haven't been back on a bike since, up north this may, should be fun, hoping still got the bug!!!!
Same here, after a shitty long winter it feels good being around so many fellow bikers and bike stuff, gets you right in the mood for the season ahead
