    Hey guys

Got a new set of tyres to put on the track bike and first chance I'll get to use them is at cadwell. Anybody have any experience scrubbing them in? How many miles before I can give it some?

    Cheers

Good to meet you guys earlier, what a cracking day it was! As for the tyre scrubbing, there is no need to scrub the, at all, just go for it from the off, have faith in them and all will be well.

I lap matey is all U need on Slicks, can't say I've ever had new Treaded tyres to run in on Track, always been scrubs.

Can't see why it should be much diff?

Watched Jenny Tinmouth go out on new Tyres last week at Oulton and she was banging in 1:44's within 2 laps!

They will scrub in quickly if the tyres are warm and on track. I would have thought within 2-3 laps if it's not wet they will be srubbed in

On the road they say the first 100 miles but when I've taken a new set out on a warm say within 50 miles of warm road all of the rear has been used

just cold and wet slows this process down. But only what I found

What tyres are they Tyke.... big learning curve for me this weekend on the racetecs, new rear on both mornings :( warm up lap, knee down in 3rd corner - race pace 1 min after that ha ha. once you get your head round that, its fine!!

would want to give the front a little more time though, def a couple of laps, again, prob just because i havent done it yet - sure its fine! ha ha

Literally use your sighting lap as the opportunity to get a feel for them. as long as they have heat in them, they will work as soon as they are fitted. No need to scrub in at all. I have had Pirelli, Metzeler and now Michelins fitted with no problems at all. If you hold back, you are going to lose places.

It is a mental thing really and I had this the first time I did it, but I thought that if this is what the tyre guys are telling me and it works for everybody else, then lets go for it. the only issue I did have was with the Michelin Power Cup One front, as it has a taller profile and as such tends to drop into corners much quicker. Was a bit alarming on the first few corners of the sighting lap, but about half way round the sighting lap, I felt happy with the way it worked. As for grip on new tyres though, no, never had an issue at all.

Me neither this weekend - full on from the off, which is a crazy thing to do but fine once you do it and realise it's possible, goes against everything you learn on the road etc.

That is yet another issue, bringing all the years of road riding onto the track. I think I have got rid of all the gremlins, but it is a bit like starting from scratch. Never mind, it's worth it just to get the buzz, the rush, the fun and all that stuff.

I can't wait to try out the new "V" profile. The R6 doesn't turn as fast as I would like, hopefully this will solve it. That and my newly fitted KTEC internals :D

With warmers they are pretty much good to go as long as it's dry. Without as others have said just use the sighting laps and they should be good to go.
