right iv been told that 08-11 single seat cowl is the same as 12-13! even though the part numbers are different?

now my question is ARE they exactly the same or does it 'JUST FIT' the same? read a few posts on rubbing and rattling issues when fitting 08-11's on a 12 bike

All seat cowl rub even genuine honda to cheap Chinese copys. I personally think Chinese are better fit. But never heard of rattling. Maybe the cowl rattled losse on 4 screws underneath ?

The best way to fix the rubbing issue is add few washers underneath the cowl, my bike got 3 on the front 2 on back. Which lifts the cowl away from rear tail and sorting the issues completely .

Agree with Hump , had both Chinese and genuine on my 09&12 and both fir perfectly well. My 2nd hand honda one came with what looks a bit like carpet on the underside to stop it rubbing and it works. It's a personal choice £30 or £200 both do and look the same. Only real difference is genuine one comes with Honda racing sticker , well worth the extra £170 !

There should be little rubber packers fitted to the tail unit that move the cowl up and prevent it rubbing
my first one never had them, they came with the tail cowl in a bag and the dealer didn't fit them.

I used sticky back rubber tabs to stop the rubbing on my genuine seat cowl that did rattle but the rear seat fits snug so looks like it's just a bracket setup issue where you are usually set for one of the other by default ;)
