Hoping to smarten up the rear end on my 2010 blade, so fancy getting a black seat cowl. Not sure I can justify spending roughly £200 for a Honda one, so wondered if anyone had any tips on the cheaper options from overseas? Are they mostly an identical fit/shape? Anyone bought one? Is it just like throwing £40 down a drain?

I have the genuine 1 and whilst certainly not worth the price tag you know it fits an will be the exact same colour. I know of quite a few cheaper versions that have fitted fine but the colour match has been way off

Hey up Scottie, I got one from China last month, £20, Fit is good but the colour aint the best, it looks sort of a greyish sort of black, Not a nice deep black like on the Blade. But if you only pay 20 quid and don't mind, like i don't you've saved yourself a bit of cash.

I have a £20 one from China and consider it a good value for money despite the fit is a bit rattly (can be sorted with foam pads) and the finish is a bit grainy. No logo on it too but that can be sorted with stickers.

I got an orange one from eBay for the Repsol, paid £18 inc delivery. Seems from the underneath that it used to be blue. It has a very good finish with a lacquered over HRC sticker on it. The color was a good match to most of the bike but my tail end has faded, ho hum it was £18 and not £118 and at the speed i go nobody can tell.

When I'm in the market for one I think I'll be tempted to get a cheapo one from eBay and then get it sprayed to truly match colour wise; I suspect it'll still be a significant saving over the genuine version.

Thanks all for your thoughts and experiences on this subject. I think I'll go down the cheapie from eBay route. I'm only after a black one and as mikesouthby suggested, I could get it sprayed quite easily if the black comes out closer to a grey. Or leave it and see if the quirky colour scheme catches on down south! :0)
