Hi guys, Despite jump starting my stock battery last time it died, it is once again totally dead. Time for a new one and I like the reviews I see on the Shorai Lithium Ion batteries. Has anybody here bought one, and if so, which supplier did you use? Thanks kindly, Martin
With no direct help to your question, I haven't bought one, but have one as standard in my SP2. Just be aware that they need a specific trickle charger as the lead battery chargers will overcook them. Fair bit of useful info on this thread: https://www.1000rr.co.uk/threads/question-for-lithium-battery-owners.34971/#post-457642
Hi From my experience, I use this charger, the good thing about it you can use it on lithium or standard battery using the function buttons on the front so you don’t have to worry about remembering to turn off de-sulphate function for the lithium https://www.amazon.co.uk/NOCO-G1100...=1525617328&sr=8-1&keywords=noco+genius+g1100 As for battery check these https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/248790 If you have an abs bike this is the direct replacement, if it is non abs with the smaller battery this will still fit and give you increased cranking capacity, I have one of these on my 09 track bike and it starts quickly, a lot better than the standard ytz7s battery. This battery has never let me down but saying that it is on my track bike so doesn’t have to do a great deal other than start it Hope this helps
before you spend good money on this battery + charger dosome research and determine if the technology is suitable for your use of the bike. Ideal for raing applicions where all year dependability is not required. Once you know it ticks the right boxes for you, then consider alternatives too: aliant, shido (also sold under 2 other names). Unlike shorai, their BMS balances the cells so you can use 3rd party charger (suitable for Li off course). Shorai is well established but requires you to use their balancing charger.
Just put a Shido on mine. Weighs in at 550g or something. Didnt need to charge it or anything, just stuck it in and went.
Shido is made by a company in china (I believe) also sold under skyrich & JMT names. They are designed to be an easy OEM replacement and the BSM looks after the cell charging and discharging so you don't have to worry . But don't let the battery volt drop a deep diacharge level which is around 12.8v depending on the brand. their new range can generate scan codes you can read with your smart phone that gives full status & diagnostics for the battery
