Garage advised me to scrap it...

Needs, 2 new tyres, pads and discs back and front, new chain and sprocket, front wheel bearing, the fan cuts out when idling and various other bits n bobs
Bodywork is smashed up by London scooter riders parking next to me and trashing it ..never crashed ..

the good bits, Akrapovic exhaust, heated grips, power commander 3, only 1 owner before me....

    I am in 2 minds...keep spend I reckon £1500...scrap and get £5/600 plus for the parts I take off...exhasy PC3,

    Any advise ?

I would be thinking track bike, but thats not a option on the list !

Maybe put it on ebay as is set a reserve for scrap inc bits and be as honest as you have here and I bet someone else would get it change a few bits and track it

    I may be wrong

Thanks, my heart says keep her going another year, my head says scrap and buy something else..

I mainly use the bike to commute 50 miles a day...motorway and London shit traffic..

I also own a gsxr1000k4 that's only done 22k miles and has been more pampered!

i wouldnt scrap it, i'd break it. you'd prob get 350/400 for the wheels alone.

YT done very well splitting his smashed up old k4 750 track bike.

i'm having simliar thoughts about my 04 R1 - not worth anything as is, reckon i could get a failry chunky deposit together on a new bike next year for it :)

Track bike would be my thought also but as said by others if your not doing this then you'll get decent amount for breaking it yourself. Otherwise I'm sure someone will buy it for a track bike.

May sell it as a track bike for someone depending on what they offer...

But I have a pretty empty garage and a mate and I can strip it down to sell the bits off....
How much should I ask for whole thing as a track bike.?

If ya got the time n the room n more importantly the patience, strip it down completely and sell the parts individually on flea bay n other websites, thats wot i would do n you wud prob make more than just selling bike how it is :)

As others are saing there is more cash in stripping it then your prob best doing that, if you have the time and space then you will make plenty of £

If she's a little beat up, but sound and could be put into decent mechanical shape quite cheaply, do you really want to sell, then have to spend maybe £3000.00p for something decent, only to have it beaten up with the tough life your commuter bike gets.

I think the most important question to ask here is, "how is the engine?" If its ok and is your main form of commute then seriously consider fixing it up reasonably cheaply as it sounds just like basic service items and a fairing that you can live with, especially if your next hack is gonna take a bettering too.

Hi Eagleman. That bike had a hard life mate, do you remember the heating problems you had all it needed was a good jet blast on the rad. A good dollop of TLC and you should be good for another 60k.

I would strip it and sell off the parts, frame alone if its a clean title £300 - £400
wheels as said £200, engine £200 at least even with that milage, loom £80, then the good bits pipe, PC etc plus loads of other little parts which make good money. Oh ECU and ign keys set £200 at least!

Hello Mique, didnt you know you were on this one also :)

I am not feeling all this negativity thats going around here.

The OP admits to 50 miles a day commuting, then when he parks up, cocks on 3 wheel Piaggios crash into his ride.
I that case I would patch it up and keep on trucking.
Tyres, discs and driveline are consumables anyway, he will drop around 7/800 on that lot, it will be the same whatever he owns.
A bit of fault finding to sort the fan, and its good to go.
No point spending good money on something that will get the same level of abuse IMO. Then take it depreciation hit greater than the RR already has done.

To me sounds like the perfect sort of commuter, there's no worry using it as a battering ram when its in that state, and thats the best way to get from A to B in London.

I just hate these cocks on scooters, they are becoming the bane of my life.
