well, my blade has 4 years old. The first problem came last week with the replacement of starter engine... It's enough?
That's awesome! Can we have some more pictures of the bike condition with that sort of mileage? I average 12-15k per year and have to admit I'm tempted to keep it long term instead of the usual punt every 2-3 years to retain it's value. Depends on how the bike is going to hold up to that kind of use over say 5yrs.
That's a stellar performance from the old boy!. In that time you must have go through a load of bearings, chains etc You running standard setup eg exhaust/filter? Whats oil consumption like and gear changes? What are your valve clearances? Coming up 45k miles on mine and still running like a peach though starting to find things like fork stanchions are starting to wear.
Hi guys I use my blade to commute house-work including in winter (2X150km two times a week and 2X20km the rest of week). I drive mainly in highway 90%, rarely below 6.000 rpm. As i said before no problems at all, unless my starter engine that stops working and it was replaced last week. I don't feel any loss of power, abnormal oil or petrol consumption. Nor overheating even in long distances at high speed and a 25-30 CÂș (temperature). I used 4 or 5 brands of motor-oil repsol, castrol, elf and another that i cant remember now. In terms of viscosity in winter i use 10w-40 and in summer 15w-50. I didn't find any difference between brands only in the viscosity. As a quality of petrol if it is possible i use the cheapest. I tried all (95, 98 with additives and sh!ts) and the only difference is in my pocket. Upgrades: - high screen (from honda) - scottoiler (since 15.000km) - Exhaust, Vance and Hines (since 70.000Km, till there was the stock) - Levers - K&N air filter (since 25.000 km) - Philips bulb Falls: One in the grass!!! Broke the lateral fairing and a contusion in my chest. Tyres: - dunlop qualifier (seleted by honda) - Michelin pilot - power 2ct - Michelin pilot road 2, and pilot road 4 - currently pilot road 2 in the rear and pilot 4 in the front Maintenance - I use the factory relation air/fuel but i program the ECU two times a year at home, for the cool and hot weather as recommended by honda dealer. - gear oil changes every 6.000Km - Never touched in the valves, the clearance is that from factory ... - Bearings never change. - sparks - 50.000Km - chain (full kit at 40.000Km) only the chain at 70.000 (i forgot to fill the reservoir of oil...) - Front brake changed one time at 45.000 Km. Never change the rear brake. - refill of gear oil according the driving type. If i run between 11.000-13.000 often, it spends about 1/4l every 1000 km. For instance, last weekend journey of 1000 Km that i drove between 6.000-7.000 rpm, no oil consumption. Soon i can i take some photos (now it is full of dead flies )
I have already replaced front wheel bearings, headset bearings, rear wheel bearings,Cush drive rubbers, swing arm bearings, chain and sprockets, fork bushes and a new battery and I have only covered 25000 miles on my 2012 blade. Nice to think it will do at least that again before I get any other problems!!!!!
45000 with front brake pads........? You leave at the beginning of the highway and work just at the end? Lol
You leave at the beginning of the highway and work just at the end? Lol Yes u right! I leave 2 Km from home or office to highway. And and 5 km from second place of work to Hw! During the weekend or holidays my byke stops...
