... given this is a Honda I'm not too impressed with the throttle at small inputs... rolling on / off through traffic is a frustrating experience and spoiling the enjoyment of my shiny bike! What are my options to sort it out properly?
I have a 61 plate and to be honest I've not encountered this, maybe it's your input? just tiny modulation of the throttle makes the world of difference, or maybe it's the way yours is set up? has it got an aftermarket can fitted, or did it have before you bought it?
It's completely standard with 3500 miles on it ... I don't think it is me that is the problem... I cover over 15,000 miles a year on two wheels and have never experienced this before with a bike.
Chain adjustment is critical, if that don't solve it (unlikely) buy a 12 plate onwards....drastic...but it solves it. With you on the issue matey, daily commuter and it drove me mad, glad to see the back of it. Never bothered but I am sure some will confirm if a PC takes the issue out.
Not a massive fan of the 12 > models... like the wheels and dash but prefer the rounder looks of the older one. Chain adjustment is spot on... I reckon it is PCV time. I want to live a bit longer on my commute...
tried 2nd gear? Assuming your throttle play has been adjusted as well? they are a little snatchy in traffic.. My pal has the SP and its as smooth as butter even in traffic..
you'll just get used to riding the clutch more I guess then.. My 06 is a little like this as well its either on, or off really, but I dont commute so I dont have to put up with this on a daily basis
The PCV map doesn't really do much in that area see generic map for a standard blade Most of the benefit may come just from the disabling of the O2 sensor ie the bike wont run closed loop.
Strange, my stock 08 had the smoothest on/off throttle fuelling I've every encountered, which was somehow improved further with a PCV, generic map & removal of O2 sensor. I also lowered my gearing quite early on mind you, which may have been a factor too.
what map is that, I'm using M16-002-501.pvm 2009 Honda CBR1000RR European model Stock exhaust Stock or aftermarket air filter Dynojet o2 eliminator fitted perhaps it' been updated.
I had a '12 and now an SP. The '12 was terrible for ON/OFF throttle, and I can still feel it on the SP but not as bad. This is my experience of it: 2012 version - terrible. Used to be shit on the track in 1st gear corners, you'd spend too many brain cells processing your transition from braking back onto the throttle. 2012 with 02 sensor still active and a Yoshi R-77 slip-on, WAY BETTER. 2014 SP version, still terrible but not as bad as 2012. 2014 SP with Akrapovic slip on (retains butterfly in exhaust) is better but still slightly more pronounced than the 2012 with R-77. Not a problem on the track. The pipe sounds seriously wicked on corner entry because these days I hold a bit of power on even though I am still slowing as I tip in, there's none of that keep it quiet on track days going on here Since I've had them, that point where you just go to ON/OFF throttle at low speed, it feels like less than 1mm movement, but you learn to sit on it.
I was fairly shocked at the on off throttle response of the Fireblade compared to my ZX-10R. The only thing I found (other than getting used to it) is running the chain so that it isn't too loose. Not too tight but definitely not too loose.
Just to add my two pennies. I found my RRA Repsol to be an absolute nightmare with surging at low revs i.e. traffic and filtering. It was an all or nothing affair, I was convinced I would have to try PCV etc. I then got the 2012 (RRC?) and it is so bloody smooth. No longer have any desire to get a PCV, now I don't know if they sorted it, or if it has anything to do with the Akra thats fitted this time. I know it drove me wild on my Repsol made me feel like a rookie rider!!
