Ok will have a go at a half decent report here. Headed up on the Saturday as my granddad lives up that way so visited him Saturday day. However a 3hr drive turned into a 5hr drive as I got an hour from home and realised I didn't have both parts of my driving licence, so back home I go. Now the kicker is that I didn't need both bloody parts when I got to the track on sunday, just a bit annoying but there we go. Stayed at a holiday inn which someone had decided would be a great place for a wedding reception. God knows why, surley theres better places for the same money than that. Now for the trackday. Got up and it was nice and sunny, good stuff I thought but as we got to Silverstone it had clouded over and was a bit chilly. But the weather did pick up and I thought it turned out to be really good weather for a trackday. Did all the signing in bollocks and got the bike up on its stands and warmers on. Not much to report when it came to each session apart from one nasty off in the first session, the person that came off was lying in the middle of the track with their bike across their legs with one leg twisted up between the rear wheel and subframe, the leg didn't look to dandy but don't know the outcome. Also the only people to overtake me the whole day was 3 instructors. No idea what everyone else was doing but don't really care as I had a blast. Got the suspension looked at by the suspension man, loads better however its all set to max settings, so need to sort that out. Otherwise the bike went great. Couple of pics and a vid below.
Didn't pick up your post until I got home, shame, as it would have been good to have a chat, I was in garage 30. Bloody good day all in all, very few red flags.
James, I will join you on the next one... Sure you wasn`t in the novices you were flying past everyone, looked good..
Be good to get you on the next one. Def in inters but I have no idea what was going on. Everyone was really really slow, I'm still a bit puzzled by it now.
I was initially booked into the inters but the 3 lads I went with were all in novices so I asked to be dropped down to their group. As the inters were split between all 3 groups there was no problem with me changing groups. Was good to go out and play with my mates!! Last time I spent most the day waiting for them to come back in and then I went out, so hardly got to see them and spent most of the time twiddling my thumbs. There were a few fast bikes in my group though. Some of them idiots too as one guy came up the inside of me, which wasn't too much of problem, but he nearly clipped the guy in front of me which scared the crap of him.!!
Was it a road bike only day? Looks good - its a long circuit so if they red flag it stops the session pretty much as it takes so long to get everyone in, move bike etc. Which layout were you on and who was the operator?
it was a mixture of road and track/race bike... some pretty fancy stuff going round! Probably a 60/40 mix in favour of trackbikes I reckon? It was the national circuit so new pit lane up to farm then a right onto hanger straight, stowe club and pit straight, not the full circuit!
