This is something that cropped up this evening and there are many different possible explanations for the cause, each one as feasible the other but still bizarre. As the title says, for those who are interested in but have not yet seen the latest Bond film, Skyfall, please don't go any further as there is a spoiler contained and I'd hate to be the one to ruin your experience. Okay, to those who are still here and like me, and Bond, were mortified when the assault chopper blew up the DB5, here is the strange thing. I wondered what the value of the filmed car was and googled for more information. It turned out to be an estimated £2.5 million.......Nice. So I thought I'd better check whether they would dare to destroy an asset that valuable for cinematic effect. I turned to Safari on my iPad, which was set to the forum homepage so no clues there, went to the Google search bar and typed... "Did they bl" I swear that was as far as I got before the suggestion box offered to fill in the question "Did they blow up a real DB5 in Skyfall" I take it the search engine makes its decision based on how often it's given those words in that order before it makes it's decision but still, that's pretty bloody thin. I was afraid nobody would believe me so I shoved the iPad under Jeanette's nose and explained it to her, pointing out I'd only got as far as "bl". She gave me a look... But she will back me up based on the evidence.
No they had 3 x 1/3 scale model ones 3D printed then assembled and trimmed to look like the real thing. The only surviving one was sold at Christies for over 90k.
and skyfall was made of scaffold, ply and paper mashie in a field in surrey - gutting hey! lol 90k for the 1/3 model right? you cant even get a DB5 without an ejector seat for under 100k ha ha
i know its straying off topic a bit but did you like the film? i personally really did and of the opinion that i now think daniel craig is my favourite bond. lookout now for all the old geezers screaming sean connery,i cant stand any of the ones he made
Actually I did. Having read the books, Connery is much closer to Flemings Bond but only in Dr No and perhaps From Russia With Love. Fleming's Bond was a real shit but in a '50's way, just after the war and emotionless as he used people. Daniel Craig is much more the street thug Bond and comes as close to the original as the early Connery's. I know the film has taken some stick critically but the truth is Bond is a cartoon really and in making it more realistic it makes the cartoon stuff look more ludicrous. I enjoyed it in a video gamey way.
I really liked the parts in Scotland where I knew 'That's Glencoe' - was filmed in Feb 2012 and weather looks perfect - details here: Bond and M arrive in the Highlands on the A82 in front of the misty peaks of Buachaille Etive Mor and Buachaille Etive Beag. It’s a suitably breathtaking locale, previously seen onscreen in Braveheart and Highlander. We will be going over it (in the 'wrong' direction) in mid May on the Scotland trip
i thought it was ok but certainly not the best bond film ever made as loads of people said. Think there have been plenty of better ones than skyfall to be honest.
Yeah opening sequence on the rooftops then on the train brilliant saw it on imax in Sheff,as for best Bond has to Pierce Brosnan for me.
I thought it was great, but have a Soft spot for Dr no. As for the Google search, I just get porn. But I need to turn off my reminder for auto search
off topic again but I didnt like the film, was a bit boring but then I dont like any of the new ones :s
