Having had a couple of bikes with the Slipper Clutch i have really never gone down 2/3 gears in one hit, just hard down one at a time with plenty of brakes. Is the down 3 and let the clutch out an option or would it lock up a bit or even worse do some damage .Just curious (In this before you start)lol
I sometimes come down 4 gears and drop the clutch, that is what it does, no damage to cause. It should not lock up on dry surfaces but it can slip on white lines and corners that are wet.
I think the oem slipper in my 2010 model is exellent, although I have only used the bike on the road. Having spent most of my time doing track days for the last few years I have become more accustomed to dropping the number of gears required & dropping the clutch; too much going on for me to think about 1 gear at a time. This Blade is smooth as you like; in fact I find it doesn't like any throttle blipping either.
thats what slipper clutches do,allows slip until the rear wheel catches up with the engine speed.different bikes that have them as standard vary quite a bit though, some slip too much, some take a lot to get them to work. cant really see the point of them on the road though tbh,but are very usefull on track.
Compared to my Speed triple with no slipper and Love them now. I am used to getting a lock of rear lock up's on the triple when enjoying myself on the roads. but the blade does make riding easier
Mamby pamby slipper clutch's......???? Pah, ya need a lock up tear-arsing into bends. Looks way cool and shits everyone up who's following ya.
Mcpint & the TT legends use the standard 09 slipper. If its goo enough for him at the TT it's goo enough for any of us!
