Having become an owner of another blade recently and at the moment looking at what this basket case needs to get her back in the game, I have noticed some ' upgrades ' that I totally loathe, now I am a man of each to his own, but I can honestly say I hate these kinds of upgrades, they cheapen the look of the bike and some are so bad they look chavey, I apologise in advance if I offend anyone but these are my opinions, and what the hell do I know?. 1. Carbon fibre front fender, they are always ill fitting and look crap. 2. Carbon fibre brake resi cover, again cheap looking. 3. Carbon fibre rear fender, chavey. 4. Cut down tail piece, leave the flipping things alone it doesn't look good and it don't make the bike faster!!!. 5. polished frame, WHHHHHYYYYYyyyyyyy?????. They require polishing and look WRONG. TIA for listening to my rant.
Can't say i agree with all of these as have most of them haha Rcv bikes have polished frame you can't say they look wrong?
I think my biggest gripe with the polished frame is why make more work for yourself when it comes to cleaning, looks great on a street fightered blade but not really good on a non fighter.
I must admit to liking a sprinkling if carbon but really don't like anodised (coloured) bolts, bar ends and the like. To my eyes that looks cheap. Never seen a bike that they improve in my opinion. Variety is the spice of life!
im with you if we all liked the same we would all ride the same bike ,same car and mods etc live would be boring
Not quite sure how anyone can think the original number plate holders on any bike looks better than aftermarket tail tidys? The OEM ones normally don't follow any sort of lines of the bike and IMH the majority of the time an afterthought by the designers! I agree the polished frames tend not to suit some bikes but if polished is required then best lacquer the frame so the finish is preserved and you don't need to keep polishing it all the time to keep the shine! HRC race frames are almost always are polished units by the way!
I had a black 09 and had carbon fibre front mudguard and hugger and they looked good on the black. They would look out of place on my 20th anniversary though. As for the tail tidy , it's not April 1st again is it !
quite simply because it looks better, and more importantly is harder to hide any nasty dings/repairs/welds. simple really.
Mods are all a matter of personal taste and each to their own. I will confess to one mod I made some years back and I still can't believe I decided to do it in the first place. I fitted an irridium screen to a blue and white gixer 750. There, I have said it . I fitted it, stepped back and looked at it, then took it off. My personal worst mod of all time, albeit for about two minutes.
