Just spent a lovely weekend in Somerset with the mrs, in the car sadly but you guys down here have some mint roads!!!
Some are not bad but with somerset not far from me I normally head over to South wales. Find it quieter and again some amazing roads. Which roads do people enjoy the most in Somerset just in case I'm missing some of the good ones? I find the mendips are fun but again normally lots of traffic when i'm enjoying them
Went to Sherborne yesterday for the car rally then came back via Whitechurch then straight up to Shepton, great road for the bike lots of swooping fast ish bands didn't see any camers (gulp) then onto Wells on back to Street great run.
The road to Minehead is quite good, but you'll be lucky to catch it on a quiet day. I quite like the "combes" near me, Burrington Combe and Brockley Combe, both usually quiet enough to get some speed up. If you're luck enough to catch Cheddar Gorge when its quiet, that can be great! Remal - where do you recommend in South Wales? My mate and I have been meaning to head over the bridge for years, never get round to it. Perhaps some "insider knowledge" would give us the push we need.
Chepstow, Usk aberrgavenny on the B4235 is amazing then follow the signs to Talgarth up to the brecons. Lovely roads
Tiverton to Minehead, well as far as Dunster anyway, is one of my favourite "road test" routes. Bike or car. If you get it empty, it's damn near perfect. Chances are if you come across traffic it'll be someone like us doing the same thing. The most dangerous things on it are caravans, 'cos it's not wide enough, and pheasants, 'cos they're bloody everywhere.
