Better report to follow about myself, Icurusgreen and Denzels 300+ mile day trip to snowdonia Just a few pics to get this started
Great photos Remal and looking forward to the report .Is old Denzil praying to the god blade ...or Southern softy coming out ?
Both the southerners were warming their hands on their engines Of course myself being a hardy northerner did no such thing
HAHA I can confirm the southern softies and Northan pansy's both felt just as cold as each other, Right a little to add. Day started off by myself meeting Denzil at the local Petrol station at 7AM. A early start to make the most of the day and lovely weather We Met up and fulled up and went to meet Andy at Aust Service (AKA Severn View) the old Severn bridge. Our trip was going to be Bristol, Chepstow, Abber, Talgarth, Rhayader and finish off at Dolgellau just on the south tip of Snowdonia. around a 150 miles for Andy, a little more for me and Denzil around 170 mile trip up This was not a good idea as on the way to meeting Andy we noticed the old bridge was closed for repair which meant once we met up that we needed to do a 10 mile round trip back to the M5 to get to the new bridge. And then go via newport upto Abbergavenny which added a total of around 30 miles our trip. First stop was in Felindre for brekky on the way to Talgarth. What happened at the end of the brekky will never be mentioned. But it was unexpected. So less of that and back on our way. We had to stop every 40-60 miles as it was very cold. We hardly had any sun all day and once we go high up in a few valleys and mountains it go very cold. the main reason for stopping and trying to warm our-self. it was not a blat out as doing 300 miles plus is not fun so we took it steady but the lack of sun and warmth meant we took longer than we expected. This was our basic map on the way up https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?sadd...FzgkR3tlSDG0Vo8fowbKfw&oq=Dolg&mra=ls&t=m&z=9 But when we got to Talgarth Andy did notice the A470 which we needed at some point and took us that way. Which after 10 miles Plus noticed it was taking us South and not North. So another 20-30 miles added to our trip. We did not take any Sat nav's just checked where we need to go beforehand and used the road signs. Amazing more people seem unable to do this. Yes we took wrong turns but still managed to get where we needed in the end. We stopped many times and the last before Snowdiona was Llanidloes for a pee and tea. At this time we had been talking about returning home. Mainly as it was bloody cold but decided we had come to far not to do the last 20 miles north and So glad we did as the road went from great to Amazing. had to get pics via Google for the road we are on We has been alerted or spotted 1 camera van and one very nice unmarked Volvo that was hiding behind a hedge when it pointing towards Us when coming from a national to a 30MPH. We had been following a car and was in no rush so all ok there. Double whites stopping us from passing said car. Once we got to Dolgellau we stopped off for a lunch. Filled the bikes in the local petrol station and returned home. The way back was a little warmer so less stops and other than 1 or 2 5 min short stops we got to Abbergavenny for our last tea and a pee stop. the the return leg was done at a higher pace I think was it was a little warmer which makes you more at ease on the bike. well it did for me. many thanks to Andy and Denzil for a great day which included 330 miles for me. almost 12 hours door to door. and over 10 stops for one thing or another. must do that again
I also Spotted a Bentley group doing a rally of wales including a brand new Continental GT, A group of 6 Cobra reps, the kit car in the pics. A few caterinvans But not many bikes
There was some nice cars out that day and although I do like the sound of an "AC F*$king Cobra" (well we were in wales) I think we did our best to drown them out as we went past
it's the John McGuinness TT screen and makes a huge difference over the honda racing screen I had. Den's getting one for his blade as they do a great job
