Well folks as some of you know I have had a bit of a set to with my dealer this week and I am currently thrashing out a deal on a new SP (non abs of course lol) however when I asked if the tyres could be swapped from my blade to the new one along with my HM quickshifter and slip on exhaust I received the following-

With regards to any after market options and tyre changes, Honda do not recommend any alteration to an SP version due to the nature of the bikes set up from the factory.

We can remove any after market parts you want off the current bike but unfortunately we cant re fit them to the SP.

I have just asked the question to the dealer so if I change my tyres from Supercorsa's to something that actually works in the wet I will invalidate my warranty? I am waiting for a response...

Why would Honda be that way I just don't get it?

Honda are pissing me off to be honest. They want a copy of my insurance for the sp been tho it's paid for in full. They said they have a duty of care which is bollucks . They also advised against fitting exhausts sbd quickshifters so I did it myself.. Customer care seems to be getting poorer and after care even worse . I keep looking at th bms

That's what I just don't understand myself I mean why build a bike and then say you can't modify it in anyway shape or form? If it came from the factory with the HM quickshifter and a full yoshi system fitted I'd say fairplay I'll leave it be but it just doesn't make any sense.

I'm making the dealer jump through hoops to answer my warranty questions about all of this because there's no way I'm keeping the standard exhaust and I love my HM quickshifter so that's going on there as well I just need to know if my dealer will turn a blind eye in the case of a warranty claim...

It's a funny thing - I got an SP recently in Aus, and that dealer is also the BMW dealer. And, they could not be more supportive of mods and upgrades. When it comes down to it, the bike is still a 2014 Blade in most respects, including the exhaust system.

I reckon either Honda UK has a beancounter non-biker in charge or they are worried about some legal aspect that doesn't exist in Aus, or the dealer is spinning you rubbish.

Didn't have any problem with my dealer, I asked about tyre change too and they were quite happy to change them if I wanted to, however stuck with the Corsa's and took it easy in the wet.
Exhaust you'll have to wait for as no one has made one to fit new 2014 Blades as slip ons. Akro have one on there website but not on sale yet in UK.
Fitted HM QS, rear hugger, R&G Tail tidy and ASV lever myself. Went back couple of weeks ago with warranty problem (Decal on fairing peeling off) and they had no problems with the mods or doing warranty claim for new fairing panel which comes this week and they'll let me fit it as they're fully booked for two weeks.
I guess it's sometimes down to the dealer and how well you know them, been buying my bikes from them since 1984, yes old person alert I know what your all thinking! :)

Cool thanks guys. Yeah I'm picking up my SP hopefully this weekend just asked the dealer to fit the tail tidy as the standard tail is bog awful. I'll get all of the old kit off mine and can fit the QS good shout on the exhaust I hadn't realized that but really glad you told me now I can sell my old one off.
