Like a lot of you, I`ve wanted an SP cowl for my 2015 Repsol Blade for a while but the cost is a bit steep. I finally found an aftermarket unpainted one on e bay, which I eventually bought for £35! It has arrived today, and is really good quality and a great fit. Its manufactured from ABS plastic. I have sourced the Honda HRC and REPSOL decals, so now am looking to source the paint. As its the three colour Repsol paint scheme I will need plastic primer, the 3 colours and a clear coat, but if your just after single colour then cost of paint will be less. Repsolfanatic website recommend Bike Colours UK for sourcing aerosol motorcycle paint, so I have contacted them asking for a price for the kit. Some info below if anyone is interested. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...3.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=262454678828&_sacat=0 HRC decal - Honda part No 86775-MKB-650ZA REPSOL decal - Honda Part No 86776-MKB-650ZA Bike colours UK - http://www.bikecolours.com/
I have received the decals from Honda and the REPSOL decal is black writing on a white background, so I don`t think I need to spray the white on the cowl as the graphic already does this, so just the red and orange. Can anyone, with a SP Respol seat cowl, post a detailed picture of the underside of the cowl, so I can see if there is any white overspray? From some poor quality pictures I have seen, it does appear as if there is only red and orange over spray?. Many thanks
They come as standard just orange and red, any white overspray might be the primer or the base coat for the orange.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331976050077?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
That's fantastic. I can get on with preparation and spraying now. Will post a picture of the finished article!!
I got a yellow one a while back for £80..did get the colors for the repsol from ebay..but they did not look right.. In the end ended up getting a repsol one for £150 on ebay..looks better and original...
Well I finally got around to tackling the job. Patience is key as you need to plastic prime, prime, flatten back, mask and spray first base colour, re-mask and spray second base colour, clear lacquer, colour sand, rubbing compound, decals and then finally a coat of polish, but I`m chuffed with the final result!! Cost about £120 to complete job as I already had wet and dry/tack cloths/panel wipes. Bonus is I still have loads of Respol paint left, so may colour code my white powerbronze rear hugger next, and wont cost me a penny!! Just an update, I ended up sourcing paint from Clostermann Coatings (Online). Honda paint codes for the Orange is YR250X, and Red R334.
Used up the spare paint this weekend spraying the rear hugger, cost me £3 for the REPSOL decal, so a cheap addition to the bike, think it sets off the back end really nice, especially with the seat cowl.
Yeah, built the turntable, and set it in the floor when I had a new floor laid, really useful bit of kit!
