Hi all, just bought an SP. Running in still at only 500 miles but with a challenging throttle. Great bike on the move with superb handling. However, twist the throttle up to 5 degrees before any thing happens. I was told by the dealer that the ECU would learn as I ride and things would improve, but they have not. Bike taken off me at dealers advice and shipped back to dealer via the AA. Honda UK will be looking at my bike next week. That will be three weeks without my bike. Problem sound familiar to anyone? KOS
I've had that a few times but now running settings on 1,4,1,A2 and seems to be OK, I'll test it again this weekend but bike has 1400 miles on it now.
Not had any probs with mine yet but it's only done 500 miles Tried most of the settings and done a track day, even tried it in girlie mode today as got caught in th rain. Throttle response has been fine
Yep 5 degrees of no throttle response sounds about right, but not consistent was the problem I had on the test ride. A variable throttle response on a bike of this performance is not acceptable. But honda thought it was acceptable with the C-ABS, so why not the throttle?
I was out on a SP loaner this weekend (great fun!) and didnt notice any throttle lag. Did a real mix of riding - fast A roads, windy country roads, dual carridge way and city roads. Just love that Quick Shifter!
Hi Ritchierich, throttle response on my bike was worse in Mode 2 so most of the 500 miles have been in Mode 1. Does your throttle problem still happen if you are in Mode 1 (1, 2, 3, A1) ? Can you try Mode 1 on the weekend and let me know. Thanks
Hi Singh1000RR, can you let me know what Mode or set up you ride. I am trying to find out if my throttle problem will get better with miles or is it Modes 1 & 2. I am looking forward to full throttle after its fist service.
Roger that KOS if weather is good I'll give it a whirl but suspension on A1 is going to be a killer on these North Wales roads :-(
Oh boy your going to love full throttle, and talk about anti-wheelie, well I did a Guy Martin got it back in 2nd and pulled a massive wheelie past line of cars, TC was set to 4.
Does anyone know how many 2017 Blades have been sold yet and how many are standard and how many are SP's
Why wait till first service at 600 miles ? Recommended running in period is only 300 miles, don't be too gentle with it. I finished running mine in on track, it bloody flies. Initial throttle response is the same in all modes
Mine hasn't changed since the first mile though, the throttle response is instant exactly the same as the demo bike I tried.
Running in is all about getting the rings and bearings bedded in, You need to get the piston rings bedded in before the bores glaze, this is best achieved by brisk acceleration and deceleration as it forces the rings against the bores. Running in oil assists the bedding in.
Yes I agree they have previously been the same, but now I don't think it's even mentioned in the user manual. My dealer told me they recommend 300 miles for running in. With modern engines I think you can do more harm running in too carefully than ragging them from the off.
