Been having a bit of an issue with my speedo, erratic speed values coming up on the clock display, so i assumed the speedo sensor was at fault and ordered a used replacement off ebay. That was fitted and everything worked fine for a while untill ................. the problem returned, so after speaking to someone more qualified than me, they suggested fitting a new one to be sure the replacement wasn't faulty. New one fitted and still have this intermittent problem, so today i'm undertaking a full strip down and inspection, with a multimeter, of all the wires and connectors from the speedo sensor right up to the internals of the clock, following the trouble shooter diagnostic for speedo problems in the service manual. Wish me luck........
Hope, you sort it Lee, I had a problem with my speedo on the last ride out with you, the figures showing were surely un realistic for me Let's us know if you find anything, broken/loose wires etc.
No joy yet i'm working my way from the crank sensor back up to the clock display, got half way but it involves major dismantling to trace the course of the wires through the loom, ( tank off, airbox off, left fairing off,[a bitch on its own] front end off ) still got 3 more plug connectors to check with live ignition and line feed only, to try and find if it's a dodgy wire affecting the pulse voltage getting through, a plug connector or an issue with part of the multi display circuit board ( i f**ckin hope it's not... they're £650 new for the board or £250 egay for the whole display ). Plus side is the battery and reg/rec are fine.. ha ever the optimist.
A lot of effort going in there mate. Really hope you nail the bsatard without having to fork out that sort of dough.
Ha so do i mate ...... other wise i'll track it and commandeer the missus gixer and defect to the dark side .lol..
