Within the next few weeks I'll be changing my standard speedo for a Koso RX2n as I already have one on my Suzuki and find it more readable than the Honda one, also as the road speed is taken from a pickup on the rear sprocket the reading is accurate rather than the current 20% over read.
I'll be fitting it using a spare front loom so that I can return the bike to standard if I ever want to.

I do have a question though for the tech guys here though,
If I, or should I say, when I disconnect the speedo pickup from the gearbox, as it wont be getting used, will the ECU throw up any error codes as it wont be receiving road speed info?
Secondly, as we all know, modern litre sportsbikes are restricted to a max 186mph by the manufacturers by agreement, I assume this is done by the ECU backing the power down as the speed approaches that set point that it detects through the gearbox speed sensor. So with this sensor disconnected, I theorize that the power curve would continue past the 186 mark until the rev limiter cuts in...or your a*se starts to pucker.

What do you think guys ?? has anyone done this before...the racers amongst us surely must have.. ;)

Been on the back straight of Aragon in spain, and the speedo read 186 (299kmph) and on my GPS laptimer it said my max speed was only 286kmph...... boy was I disappointed when I was checking out my laptimer in the paddocks :(

Think you will find most blades only over read by around 5% Tom never heard of a normal one being 20% out?

I double checked with a GPS speedo and it is 20% over reading, at first I wasn't bothered but as we all know, riding a bike is complex enough without having to work out speed differences in traffic when there are boys in blue ready to nab you for being slightly over the limit !!
Of course adding an extra 200 miles for every 1000 is like wiping value off the bike hand over fist too !

Have you changed the sprocket sizes or tyre profile, 20% is a huge amount to be out, never seen that myself, unless it's bust of course ;)

The bike, apart from the bits I've fitted, is as it come from Honda. The ratios are standard
