One for Ben the Pig me reckons? Was chatting to a mate today about how well my new Bike Trailer Tows. The Towing max speed was raised from 50 to 60 many years ago now but I seem to remember that only applies to Cars towing caravans, trailers etc. If a LGV, i.e. Transit/Vivaro/Transporter etc etc is towing a Trailer then it's still 50mph on Motorways and maybe down to 40mph on single track National limit roads? Can anyone clear this up as I was quite happy pootling along at 60mph whilst towing me Blade up to Darley Moor Racetrack on the A50 last week in blissful ignorance I might have been nicked and given 3 points!
Cheers Pete!

Goods vehicles (not more than 7.5 tonnes maximum laden weight) 30 (48) 50 (80) 60 (96) 70 (112) If articulated, or towing a trailer, limit is 60 (96)

So basically I was Ok towing at 60mph on the A50 as it was a Dual Carriageway!
I tow a trailer with a gross carrying weight of 750KG and 99% of the time stick to around 60 with no issues from the BIB. I also tow a 1800KG caravan with my 4X4 at 60 or above. there abouts again with no issues. I never thought to check. just always assumed it was 60 if you tow. I know that 15-20 years ago it was 50 for trailers.
And you're not allowed to tow in the outside lane on the motorway - suprising how few people know that. Annoying at times, especially when sat behind a lorry overtaking a lorry.
Depends they can over take on a 2 lane highway not 3. But agree i've seen people towing caravans in the 3rd lane!!
Speed restricted vans for say BT or British gas that state their restriction are also not allowed in the third lane to overtake, but I hate being stuck behind a lorry drag race on any road
